Rated 8/10

I liked this quite a lot; I admired its scrappy nature. Marginally overlong at an hour and a quarter, but the music was enjoyable enough to compensate. A solid four.

Rated 6/10

Ooh I don’t know if I’m gonna like this
Ok this isn’t bad
Hey the jackass theme song!
43 songs in 74 minutes is schizophrenic
It’s now gone on too long
That wasn’t bad

Rated 8/10

Bass driven riffs with a jazzy funky hoping style and gritty tone, propulsive energy from the drums, slashing chords and gnarly leads from the guitar, all surprisingly clean and bright. Eclectic influences distilled into a truly unique blend of visionary big hearted explosive and emotive outside art post punk. A singular band that left a huge mark from their sound to their ethos. It's a tough album to sink your teeth into since it's so big and sprawling but all the pieces are so small and elusive - it takes a few listens to sink into the mood and to latch onto a few highlight tracks and let the whole thing grow on you.

Rated 10/10

I saw the number of tracks and overall length of this album and was a bit weary that a punk album this long might start feeling stale, but after three solid punk songs, Cohesion really came out of left field! Then the drumming on the next track, It's Expected I'm Gone, is tight and jazzy! Somehow with the short track lengths and the mixing of genres and styles, it still feels totally cohesive and very fun. This is the kind of punk music I am here for! I absolutely loved this album and will be returning to it frequently.

Rated 8/10

Minutemen aptly named because this 43 song quadruple album(!) clocks in at a tight 74 minutes, so each song is barely longer than a minute. And while nothing overstays as welcome, it never feels repetitive. It's a fucking wild album straddling the punk and hardcore scenes while moving beyond them.

Rated 6/10

Long double album with some cool moments, but after just listening to the 3 and a 1/2 hour Ella Fitzgerald box set, I'm kind of anti-giving-super-long-albums-where-there's-not-a-lot-of-variety-a-chance. Moving on.

Rated 6/10

Not a bad album. Didn't really feel like most punk I've heard, but wasn't bad to listen to. Kind of long and some of the songs sounded the same. Could use a bit more variety. Some of the song titles made me chuckle though. 3.5/5

Rated 10/10

In my top ten. Absolutely brilliant in so many ways. Aged well. I will never get tired of Minutemen and this is their magnum opus.

Rated 8/10

One of the best punk albums I've heard in a long time. I can see why they had a cult following and why they influenced so many after them.

Rated 8/10

Far too many tracks, but I did like that they're all super short, make their point and get the heck outta there. Great fun!

Rated 5/10

It's only just dawned on me why they're called Minutemen.... that's embarrassing on my part. Really good basslines, I love to learn some of them, but it's too long and too samey for me to give it a higher rating than this.

Rated 4/10

43 songs is too many songs.

Rated 8/10

So influential. Some really solid highlights but not one I really seek out for cover to cover listening. 3.5/5

Rated 6/10

awfully long - funny enough i was thinking of this album name a few days ago, and then of course it showed up

Rated 2/10

The big problems on this album occur when the lead singer tries to sing. I mean… no. When he talks or yells it goes on, but when he actually tries to sing on key? Painful.
The instrumental musicians are good.
This probably should have been two or three separate albums. Over an hour of this group was way more than I wanted to hear.

Rated 6/10

This is for the Jackass theme song

Rated 8/10

It was indeed long. It was indeed fantastic. Several five star songs.

Rated 10/10

Man, what a monumental piece of work. The Minutemen are truly one of the most original and creative punk bands I have heard.
Despite their wildly experimental approach and real mix of various musical styles, this album has remained surprisingly catchy.

It is exceptionally well put together,

Rated 8/10

Punk will never be my preferred genre of music, but this is more enjoyable than I thought it would be. A large part of that is having a (very) large number of short tracks, with quite a bit of variation in sound. That said it does get a bit samey - I think I would have been happier if there had been 30 tracks rather than 43.

Rated 4/10

God this got boring quick. I don’t mind longer albums but when they feel longer than they already are, that’s when I start to have a problem
