Jack White is a tour de force in rock n roll for the 21st century....

Rated 6/10

This is a very OK album. Was kinda boring but I quite like the last song. Good length too. Always appreciate when an artist understands how boring they are and don't make you listen for long.

Rated 8/10

Bursting with creativity. More mature, a bit on the depressed side. Nothing seems to make Jack a happy boy this time around. Still shockingly spontaneous, off-putting, heavy, and inscrutable (for the most part) as anything they've done.

Jack White seems to be seeking something. Or coming to terms that he won't ever find what he's looking for. That what this sounds like to me.

Rated 9/10

Nikad mi ne bi naumpalo da odslušam njihov cijeli album. Zanimljivo je. Potpuno drugačije od svega. Definitivno je vrijedilo odslušati i slušat će se opet.

Rated 4/10

Hmm. At best, two White Stripes albums should be on this list. Probably not this one.

God, My Doorbell is an annoying song. Strong memories of turning the radio off whenever Colin and Edith played it on Radio 1. Most other songs are just boring.

Rated 6/10

Some good guitar playing and some catchy tunes, quite a diverse sounding album but nothing spectacular.

Rated 4/10

I like this even less than their other albums on here.

Rated 8/10

This isn't my favorite White Stripes album, but it's still a pretty good effort. It does get repetitive in some spots.

Just another ex-1001 album!™

Usual stuff, I liked the singles but not too fussed about the album.

Rated 8/10

This is about when Jack White really started to make weird music, and the oddness feels fresh. And, while the record is a bit all over the place, it works as a whole.

4.0/5.0: Great

Rated 8/10

The thing about the White Stripes is that they're not exactly heavy w/ riff but they are heavy w/ groove. That's a major shoutout to Meg White. I'm not convinced by every song here, but heralded by 'Instinct Blues,' which feels like a reworking of Cole Porter's 'Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love' - now: 'well, the crickets get it, / And the ants get it'; then: 'Birds do it, bees do it / Even educated fleas do it' - this album is a successful amalgam of bookish resolve and bare power: 'The one that you're trusting suspiciously dusting the sill'; 'And the truth, well you know there's no stoppin' it / And the boat you know she's still rockin' it.' And vulnerability on 'As Ugly As I Seem' and 'I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet).' Doorbells, too, ringing or unrung.

Rated 8/10

Garagen Rock mit viel Piano und Avantgarde Elementen. Es braucht zweimal oder dreimal hören um das Konzept zu verstehen. Top Tracks sind „Red Rain“ oder „White Moon“. Gerne mal wieder „bangen“.

Rated 6/10

2nd. The White Stripes album in 3 days. I love that none of their albums sound exactly the same, and clearly they are experimenting and evolving. I still think that their albums have a high ratio of filler. I love their sound(s), and I love a select few of their tracks, but even the shorter albums are just too long.

Rated 6/10

It's the White Stripes at their most mediocre

Rated 4/10

Rated 6/10

Now on my third White Stripes album, I realise I'm just a fan of the singles... or most of the singles. This is put together well enough, in their kind of ramshackle, rough around the edges way. It also has enough skill. It's just that there's lots of filler and there's not nearly enough that stands out, or differentiates itself from the rest. And, sadly, a lot of this is actually boring. Disappointing.

I thought the last track was WAY better than the rest of the album, until I realised Spotify had segued into another album of theirs.

2.5 rounded up.

Rated 8/10

The Nurse is so weird but I love it. A very cool blend in and departure from the usual White Stripes sound. The Denial Twist and I'm Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet) are both good times.

Rated 6/10

Milestone log 3: Day 300!

It's insane to think that I've consistently listened to an album a say for almost a year now. As such, I have regrets that I have mis-rated albums, or that my rating scheme is far too lenient. Like 50% of my ratings are 4 stars... that's not good, right?

As for this album, it is a far cry from the material that makes the white stripes a great band. Not here for the soppy shit.

Rated 8/10

All right, this is the last album from The White Stripes and Jack White, in general, on my journey. I have heard "Blue Orchid" on the Guitar Hero 5 soundtrack and still consider it a bop. How does the rest of Get Behind Me Satan stack up?

Well, it's rather interesting in contrast to the opening track because this album is a largely piano-driven affair. Songs like "My Doorbell", "The Denial Twist", and "White Moon" were written around simple but effective piano lines from Jack alongside Meg's pounding beats, leaning more into their blues-rock roots. In that regard, this album has a more nostalgic feel than previous efforts, and I respect that.

There are still a few deviations that led to an uneven experience. Some are fun like the raucous buzzing guitar riffs of "Instinct Blues" and "Red Rain", or the folk adjacent adventures of "Little Ghost" and "As Ugly As I Seem". The one off-putting track for me just happened to be the second track "The Nurse" with its use of marimbas in the hook and spare off-kilter bursting guitar and drumwork.

Overall, I had a good time with Get Behind Me Satan. One thing I can take away from this journey is that Jack White is consistent in his work, and much like his other works here, this album is getting a solid recommendation from me.
