I'm not going to get too deep into the weeds on this one, but it's not one of my favorite Stones albums. Beggars Banquet, on the other hand, is one of my favorite albums of all time. The highs here are just not as high and the lows drift into 70s-sleaze rock. I just can't do it anymore.

Rated 10/10

An album full of decent efforts in the format of deep cuts, with the most notable being 'Rocks Off', 'Rip This Joint', 'Tumbling Dice', and a few others that pretty much sound exactly like them. However, there isn't really a bad song on this entire album, and it's enjoyable all the way through. It's 18 songs of good vibes and nostalgia, and I don't know what's much better than that.

Rated 8/10

Great blues.

I've never really liked or listened to The Rolling Stones, but this was better than I thought

"Rip This Joint" and "Shine a Light" were highlights

Just wish that I could understand Mick's singing

There is far too much rolling stones on this list. Like I said before, their style is very dry and uninteresting. There are hardly any memorable songs other than shine a light. 2/5.

This is one of the Stones most acclaimed albums? Why?

Straightforward, well executed blues rock, but nothing exciting here.

Rated 8/10

Very British in that it invades a foreign land, exports only the good stuff, and profits. But it's also incredible that the Stones proved such a perfect fit for the blues, bringing their own pop-rock sensibilities with them.

Boring honky tonk

This album is great – what a brilliant find!

The opening track is funky as FUCK. That trumpet! Those keys! The second track is on, “Rip This Joint, and there’s that SAX. This is the first time in this whole process I’ve ever exclaimed out loud while listening to a song, made a hand movement to indicate “Yeah boy this is sick!” and then immediately CRANKED the volume. It makes me want to jump on a dancefloor and spin a pretty dame all about the place.

It was so explosive at the start, to the point that I was really, really loving it. So I was slightly disappointed when it came down in terms of that energy afterwards, but the rest of the songs are still really accomplished. They cover a lot of styles, and do them all really, really well.

The actual musicality on display is so impressive, and probably the thing that stands out the most for me. I love the huge range of instruments all played perfectly, the variance in styles, the soul backing singers. The keys. The brass! When it all comes together it’s exquisite. There’s some monster tracks in here.

It is strange how they’re a British band, but this is so massively inspired by American Blues and Soul. They do it so well though. They’re the real deal.

Es ist solider Rock der Stones. Mick lässt stellenweise auch seine Brillianz durchblicken. Leider ist kein Song fesselnd, sodass am Ende leider nur ein gehobener Durchschnitt verbleibet.

Rated 6/10

This would be a great album if it was 25 minutes shorter. As it is, Mick's vocals really wear thin by minute 55.

3.0/5.0: Good

I just don't like the Rolling Stones -- I keep finding myself not enjoying their songs that didn't stay in the mainstream. Maybe they were revolutionary for their time, but I can't get into them. This is my 3rd or 4th album from them, and no dice. 2*.
One thing I'm learning is that the Rolling Stones drew from blues waaay more than I thought.

The first Stones album I got into, a sprawling masterpiece of loose blues, twangy country, and gospel harmonies. The recording captures something magical in every performance and the production leaves a lot of space for it all to live in. There's a lot going on in every song, and it can feel crowded like a bunch of people jostling around a bar, but then eases up and opens out for an impromptu jam in a shabby living room - a crappy old piano in the corner, a couple of just about in tune guitars noodling along, some tipsy singers chasing the melody, a guy with a sax walking in to blast a few notes, a laconic drummer doing as little as possible, a bassist taking it most seriously and having the most fun of anyone...so good. This is hands down the Stones' best album and along with the Dead's live shows this same year probably the highpoint of the early 70s country-rock thing.

I had not listened to this album for years, so when it popped up in the challenge I was genuinely excited. For me, it is one of the Stones’ very best.

Rocks Off is a brilliant way to open a record. Loose, swaggering and slightly chaotic in the best possible way. It sets the tone perfectly for what follows. This album feels raw and unpolished, but that is exactly what gives it its character.

Tumbling Dice is one of the first songs I think of when I think about The Rolling Stones. Effortless and full of groove. Let It Loose was one I had almost forgotten about, but revisiting it reminded me what a great track it is. A real hidden gem on an album packed with them.

There is so much depth here. Soul, blues, rock and gospel influences all woven together. It is messy, but gloriously so.

Favourite songs: Shine a Light and Loving Cup. There are so many you could choose.
Least favourite song: Turd on the Run if I had to pick one
Album artwork: Amazing and iconic. One of the most recognisable covers in rock history

It's good, but I wouldn't call it spectacular. Kinda like your average Main Street, I s'pose.

Rated 8/10

Classic. Love the blues covers on this album in "Shake Your Hips" and "Stop Breaking Down".

Rated 6/10

The end of the Stones creative genius for me, although for plenty, also the high point which baffles me. It's well executed white-boy-blues, but I prefer my Stones tracks to be more...... satanic :)

Rated 8/10

Nice album. I sounds pretty much like blues, and a kind of country mixed with rock'n roll.

Pretty solid and consistent Rolling Stones album. Nothing blew me away, but it was good overall. 4/5
