This felt like a gwar without as much fun?

Rated 6/10

This was fun, especially some of the instrumentation, but nothing about it really stayed with me.

Rated 8/10

Origineller Indie-Mix aus Ska, Soul, Rock und Pop. Es wäre schön mal das Album in Gänze zu hören statt nervender Video-Streaming Fragmente.

I loved the Zutons when they burst onto the scene, mainly because I've never played a saxophone, but I'm 99% sure I play saxophone at the same level or better as Abi Harding...

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, who killed The Zutons? Their record label dropped them in 2008 some 4 years and 2 more albums after this, pretty much right after Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson made their version of the song "Valerie" a bigger hit than Zutons could ever dream, so lets say them... Still blows my mind that they did "Valerie" originally.

I intended to be pretty standoffish about this, but I’ll be damned if the saxophone didn’t start winning me over 45sec. into the first track. Sadly, the sax is only a part-time contributor on this record; I guess a little bit is better than nothing though.

I'm not sure I absolutely needed to hear this album, but it was fun. It's predominantly early 00s indie rock (think Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, The Strokes, etc) with some heavy nostalgia for classic rock of the late 60s and early 70s. IDK whose friend the saxophone player is or how they got involved, but it's an endearing addition to the sound. They seem to wander around from hard rock to folk rock and everywhere in between. That approach is probably useful when you're playing small clubs and trying to win over as much of the audience as possible, but it doesn't lend itself to a totally coherent album.

easy. tried a bunch of genres but others have done those sounds much better

Rated 6/10

Aside from the singles i dont think there is sny particularly soecial about this album. Yes it’s enjoyable. Plenty of brass etc but just a solid album. If i’m hobest i think yheir debut album is better

Rated 10/10

I don't have much to say about this album, other than that I really, really like it. It's just a very stylish, fun album to listen to. Love the vocals, love the brass, really enjoy the whole feel of it.

It feels weird giving such a high mark without a long explanation as to why I reached that conclusion, but it's just my kinda thing.

Who Killed...... The Zutons? was an incredibly fun album. As i was listening to it, i was kinda teetering back and forth between giving this album 3 stars or 4 stars as there were both good and mediocre songs here. But as i kept listening, I began finding that the good was heavily outweighing the mediocre. I really liked the folk and blues elements combined with the garage rock sound that this album was mainly going for. The songs in general here just have this really fun vibe that i just can't help but really enjoy. I can't really think of anything to complain about other than said mediocre songs so i'll say its a very enjoyable album.
Best Song: Havana Gang Brawl
Worst Song: Long Time Coming
Side Note: I love the music videos here too, they all provided something different but were all very fun to watch no matter what.

Better than Coldplay

Rated 4/10

Very unremarkable. I assume what killed the Zutons was giving Dimery all their money in exchange for a place in the book.

Rated 4/10

This should be in Scooby Doo, or any ghost/monster hunting cartoon. It was pretty generic but it would fit in that context.

Rated 2/10

There were small bits of a couple of songs that I somewhat liked, but for the most part - proper shite

His singing and that saxophone can fuck right off

Rated 8/10

You sometimes hear me ask "Why is this on the list?", and this is definitely one of those albums that make me think that. If this band weren't English, they wouldn't have sniffed the list.

But just because it probably shouldn't be on the list doesn't mean it isn't a worthwhile listen. Found myself enjoying this quite a bit. Genre wise, its a little all over the place, but it's cohesive none the less.

Blend of garage rock, folk, ska, 2-tone, some classic rock influences like Led Zeppelin and Grateful Dead.

I liked songs like Zuton Fever, Havana Gang Brawl, Nightmare Pt. II, and Dirty Dance hall. Basically whenever they are at their most Scooby-Doo, haha.

So yeah. Good record, maybe shouldn't be on the list, but fun to get an album like this from time to time because you might find something fun.

Rated 6/10

Cool rock music from the lesser known corners of the 2000s garage rock scene. It’s got what you want, the riffs, the songs, the performances, but I just don’t know if it can stand up to the scene’s legends. But I am glad I heard it. I will note that the production here is kind of unique, so it does stand out of a crowd. A couple of favorites are Zuton Fever, Pressure Point, and Dirty Dancehall, but the country leaning stuff here is also largely cool. Probably not essential, but very cool! And I’ll leave it at that.

Rated 6/10

While i didn’t hate this album, none of these songs really held my attention. In fact, I forgot I had listened to it within two hours after the last track ended.

Rated 8/10

a lot of fun. very enjoyable!

Rated 6/10

It's gently nice. Musically they're doing some interesting things. There's a variety of instruments and approaches, and the song structures aren't always typical. I give them credit for that. The majority of noughties indie just really doesn't do it for me though. This is better than some of the others in my opinion, even if it's never elevated above a 'generally nice listen'. I'll also give props to the cool album cover.

A thoroughly cromulent 3/5.

Rated 6/10

I've avoided this band because of the gimmicky name but it's honestly better than I thought they would be. Sort of a white stripes vibe. Not reinventing the wheel, but not terrible
