Rated 6/10
I get why people start to lower scores after a while, plenty of them start to get very unremarkable after a while lol

Great value Wilco.

Uninteresting. Boring. After listening to 3 tracks, I didn't feel like wasting any more time with the album.

This is the craziest western country album to come out of Ireland.
Rated 6/10
I didn't hate this one, but didn't really like it a ton either. Perfectly fine pop for background music, but not sure that I would be putting it on any best of lists or anything like that.

Is that Bill Hader? Dude's got a Rockmount Ranchwear shirt it appears. The cover DEFINITELY does not sell this - the posturing is strong in this one. The guy on the far right - ew. I bet they from Ireland or something. This better be good. (Not feeling generous today). Not going to break my rule and read about them before I listen, though. BRB!
Is this a prank? They ARE from feckin’ Ireland!!!! I just heard Willie Nelson and now here come these poseurs. Yikes. Bad ideas poorly executed. Why not do your own stuff and leave the Americana to someone who knows how to do it? Awful. Couldn’t get through it.

Big Sur was such a great summer hit in 2003, a superb song for cruising, and most of the singles of this album still hold up.
The whole of it is certainly ok. Uncomplicated, with a nice retro sound and a great background sound album

Fin nok plade og kender andet der også lyder lidt henad mod det her, men godt nok ikke essentielt..

What in God’s name made these Irish people decide to try make a west coast USA sound album? It’s so derivative, and so not successful. I have no idea how this album made the list.
I never heard of this group and was really excited to give them a listen! I tend to like Irish music. The Cranberries, Sinead, early U2, all great.
Instead we get…MY FIRST ONE STAR ALBUM!
I really didn’t know what it would take for me to do it. I have listened to numerous albums I didn’t enjoy (metal, prog rock, some jazz) where I could acknowledge the talent or creativity. Nobody deserves a one star review just for not being to my taste. But THIS album showed neither creativity nor particular talent. This one TRULY bothers me. It is pablum. Now I know what will drive me to really pan an album. Sorry not sorry.

It’s a 2.5 that I’m incredibly tempted to round down to a 2, but I’ll be nice and keep it at a 3.
When this album hits, it hits pretty well; instrumentally, I think the very best songs on this album click together perfectly, carried pretty handily by the steel guitar and the percussion keeping everything melodically stable. The fast-paced tracks on this are really fun and enjoyable to listen to. Vocally, I don’t think there’s enough emotion or variance in his voice; the soft-spoken thing works on a few tracks, but when you do it for almost every track, it makes everything blend together in a bad and unmemorable way.
That’s the problem with this album: there are too many tracks that blend together in a bad and unmemorable way, and that’s not good for an album experience. The amount of times that the album just gets annoyingly repetitive from both a lyrical and vocal standpoint is so often that it’s just too hard to ignore for me.
The crazy part is that I think I liked about 7 of the 12 tracks here, but for 4 of them to be some of the most boring tracks I’ve heard in a way that they quite literally dragged no emotion out of me but pure disappointment is not good. Still though, those 7 are good to listen to, but not great, and that’s where I’m stuck on a 3 for this.

I will continue to profess my love of aughts-era indie rock! This is fantastic. I can't believe I've never listened to them before. The vocalist really reminds me of Jason Lytle who I love. These songs are just super upbeat and infectiously catchy.
Rated 6/10
Completely forgot about this album till it popped up today, enjoyed listening back as it was a favourite of mine back in 2003. Was good to hear it back and probably a little bias in my view it should be on the list, but won’t make my frequent rotation again.
Rated 6/10
Landfill indie, but fun and Irish. An album with many memories for me, including nearly seeing them live in Glasgow. Still not great, but they can have three stars and thank me for them!
Rated 8/10
These guys sound like The Beach Boys meets The Flaming Lips, Sloan, or Oasis. Solid indie rock with banjo and mandolin.
Favourite songs: One Horse Town, Big Sur, Don't Steal Our Sun, Santa Cruz (You're Not That Far), Your Love Is Like Las Vegas, "Old Friends, New Lovers", 'Til The Tide Creeps In, Just Travelling Through
Least favourite songs: Hollywood Kids, Plans

I liked most of this. Kind of chill indie vibes. Not sure I'll return to it, but we'll see. 3/5

This brings me back. I was introduced to The Thrills by an English woman I met when we both started school in Santa Cruz. It's not that far.
Rated 6/10
It's quite nice, but it's a bit indie-wank. It's the kind of music Zach Braff would put in one of his movies. All very floaty and quirky and inoffensive with breathy vocals on top. Crafted well enough but not exciting in the least.
2.5 rounded up.

I am generally suspicious of most indie Americana, particularly so when it happens to come from Ireland. I mean, I have to give it to him, he nailed the breathy/whiny American indie rocker accent, even adding an affected rootsy twang... but why? Why construct an entirely forced vocal persona to hide behind? This is some kinda weird fantasy role-playing shit, and I don't like it. It's off-putting. Just look at them on the cover. Doesn't exactly scream authenticity. They look jaded, bored, and overdressed. At least they are competent at aping the far-from-unique sound they seek to emulate, but this sucks.

Wanted to like this more than I did. The guys voice is a bit polarizing I imagine. 2.5/5
