I'll never complain about another foundational post-punk album. I can definitely see the influence this has had on later bands in the genre. They can be a bit goofier than a lot of post-punk which is somewhat dour which I enjoy.

The opening bars of the first track told me I was going to enjoy this, and that turned out to be true; right up my street - not sure how I haven't listened to it before.
Rated 6/10
Found this a little mediocre for the most part, but there are a few interesting songs (Burst, Motorcade, and The Light Pours out of Me) that signal a big shift from early punk to Post-Punk.

Very very interesting sound.....need more listens....
Rated 8/10
Novel sounds with okay integration, solid enough construction, good enough genre piece. Felt unremarkable.

Quite a good listen. Liked a bunch of songs here.

I had only ever heard Song from Under the Floorboards from the Left of the Dial box set so I was excited to have a whole Magazine album to listen to. It did not disappoint. Such a unique band with a unique sound especially in 1977/78.

Another late 70s/early 80s English band.
Ok, but not particularly memorable.
Rated 8/10
I liked this one. Nothing too amazing but consistently good throughout. Liked the sound of the guitar. Favorite songs were Shot By Both Sides, Burst, and The Light Pours Out Of Me.
Rated 4/10
The singer from the Buzzcocks left the band and somehow found a way to make even crappier music. There is no real sustenance or creativity in any of these songs, save maybe, MAYBE, for 'Recoil'. His voice is borderline unbearable, the guitar riffs are beyond generic, and the lyrics are incredibly bland. If annoying had a sound, it would sound like this. It's not even cool in the way crappy post-punk can sound. It's unintelligible meandering.

I can’t believe I never heard of these guys before. I feel like they should be spoken of in the same breath as Talking Heads, Television, etc. This is a brilliant record with a distinctive sound, yet also ranging across the entire punk/post-punk spectrum. Clearly highly influential as diverse as Radiohead, Sopor Aeternus and Of Montreal.
Rated 8/10
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. A nice mix of different instruments in this post-punk format. I'll listen to this one again.

Tijdens het afspelen, maakt een apparaat op de bouwplaats ineens megaveel herrie. Als dat stopt, hoor ik de muziek weer. En verlang terug naar de herrie van dat apparaat. Wat een valse zang. Een schande voor de lijst.

The Clash featuring The Sex Pistols?
Rated 8/10
There’s a lot to unpack here. I’ve only listened to this album once so I feel like I can’t fairly rate it. There’s a lot of good stuff, again after just one listen I don’t think I’ve taken the time to fully appreciate it. It’s definitely one I’ll have to get back to.

It's nice to discover a band like this that I knew literally nothing about beforehand. Nearly every single 'post punk' album on here I've actively disliked, but this one hits for sure. It's actually cohesive, and the kind of post-punk mania generally works in its favour.
I definitely really like the music on here, across the whole album. I like all the different instruments. I like the weird sci-fi synths in particular. I like the energy and drive of the music itself. I'm not a fan of the singing though.
Shot By Both Sides is great. Really nice driving rhythms and guitar in there.
3.5 rounded down.

„My Tulpa“ & „Shot by both sides“ sind tolle Wave-Songs. Das Album eignet sich zur Wiederholung.

This is cool art punk. Shot By Both Sides is a banger track and I enjoyed this a lot!

Best post punk album I've listened to on this list so far... Still never listen to it again

Hadn't heard of the album nor band, I quite liked the melodies and progressions - especially on Shot By Both Sides. Probably not an album I'd listen to again, but enjoyed it enough for its 40 minute runtime.
