"Be-In" could've been so much better if it had been cut short. That song was way too long for what it had to offer, dragged out beyond any possible need. "Orange" has such a cool instrumental; it is so interesting, kind of mysterious and unknown, treading lightly into a second of joy.

On the other hand, "Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth" is kind of boring. It feels like I've heard that song a hundred times before, and I am not a big fan of it at all. I really liked this album at first, but it just got blander and blander as it went on. It is starting to make me snooze, and "Green" is the best example of this. He is also doing that half whispering, half talking singing voice that is so hard to nail without making me physically recoil, and he is clearly not succeeding at it. "Good Morning" is making me cringe a bit, too. It is just the way he says "good morning"; I do not know, I am just not a fan of that song.

The singles are also kind of weak, in my opinion. I enjoy the lesser appreciated songs way more, and I am not saying that just to be "oh so different" and special; I think the hits were designed with a more commercial appeal in mind as they lean a bit more towards pop. I like the more alternative songs on this album. The album is fine as a whole; it is alright, nothing groundbreaking, but an easy listen. I think it pretty much is what you expect it to be, honestly.

Why does "Pete International Airport" sound like that towards the end? The start is kind of meh, but it gets more interesting as it finishes. Was it their goal to make it sound like an abandoned airport with broken or boarded up windows? It is a zombie apocalypse, and not just any zombies, the DayZ zombies. You are hiding in said abandoned airport, a storm is brewing outside, night is falling, and everything is quiet. All you can hear is the gushing wind through the cracks, crevices, and broken windows when all of a sudden... basically, this is the vibe that song gives me.

Now, onto the last song. This sounds like a really extended movie soundtrack, the type of sound played during a movie's climax. Those distortions kind of sound like an Australian didgeridoo, so in my head, this song feels Australian. It is like there is a group of guys stranded somewhere in the middle of the Australian outback, trying to get back to civilization, and this starts playing during the montage of them learning wilderness survival, the kind of thing that happens in these types of movies every single time. These last two songs are interesting regarding their composition, but I do not see why they were included in this album at all. I do not see them working well with the rest of it. Maybe I am too stupid to see the vision or understand the deeper layer.

Fave song(s): Orange, Minnesoter
Least favorite song(s): Green
Deserving of being on this list? Eh. Its legacy isn't that great, the critical reception was just alright, and it is not an incredible album based on my taste, so I am inclined toward a no. Is it a fine album? Yeah. Should everyone listen to it before they die? No way.

Я не фанат оцього спейс-психоделік-рок ревайвлу, але цей альбом був нічогенький. Тільки "інді" місця в ньому слабкі.

This is why I'm doing the list. Great discovery of a band ahead of its time that I missed during mine.

Rated 4/10

I really like not if you were the last junkie so I was excited for this album but it was just so disappointing. Every day should be a holiday was pretty good though.

Rated 4/10

Started out ok but dragged on. The last 20 minutes of the album were boring and started to get downright annoying, not because of weird sounds or anything, it just grated on and on. 2/5

This was a good listen. I had coworker years ago that tried to get me into this band and I just wasn't ready to give them a try. It's not my usual thing, but I found it interesting enough that I wanted to hear more. Nice mix of psych and spacey shoegaze tones delivered with a pop sensibility and solid songwriting.

Color me surprised! Have heard of the Dandy Warhols, but never checked out their music. This album was really good. Solid alternative/indie rock of the 90’s. The last two tracks were unnecessary to me. But besides that, great album. This is probably the first time I’m giving an album a 4 after first listen.

Rated 4/10

They forgot to put the banger from Flushed Away on this album. For shame. Also if they chopped this album at 45 mins maybe I would have passed it. The final 20 mins were a true slog.

Rated 8/10

A friend of a friend loaned me this album in the late 90s because he said I seemed like the sort of person who liked stoner music without actually being a stoner. I can't recall what musical choices led him to believe that, but 20+ years later, I think it checks out. Yet I haven't listened to the whole album since then. In 2026, I find it mellow, reassuring, yet still alive to possibility. The closest analogue is the observational songwriting of Fountains of Wayne... these guys feel like their more excitable cousins. Nothing earth-shattering, but music I could enjoy any given day either sitting by myself or at a party. Might have been a 3.5, but the fact that they wrote the Veronica Mars theme will always put them over the top.

For some reason I thought this was the band that Bob Dylan’s son was in. It isn’t. I have nothing else to say about this album

Rated 8/10

Sounds like an updated 90s version of psychedelic rock. I do like the pop-rock melodies more than the drone tracks. There was also like kind of a Weezer vibe to it. (3.5-4)

Rated 6/10

Likeable pop garage-grunge, enjoyable in its day (if a bit glossy) but sounds better today. Inevitably and needlessly coupled with BJM, and in fairness to the Dandies they were shooting for broader appeal I believe. Good crafty guitar pop (but nothing more)

Rated 8/10

A band from PDX having a song called "Minnesoter" sure hits different in January 2026!

As someone who also has a hard on for Jesus, I feel seen 🙏

This is a banger! I was sort of casually familiar with The Dandy Warhols but I don’t think I’d ever say and listened to an album all the way through. I missed out! I really liked this one a lot and will definitely seek out more of their stuff. Would love to have this on vinyl. 4.75/5

I think they're playing dress up. It's not terrible, but it lacks soul.

This is a great album. It’s almost a shame that so many people haven’t really dug into their back catalogue before, because there’s so much to connect with.

For me I think this is at its best when it’s more upbeat. It’s got real driving rhythms, and layers of sounds, synths and instruments to it. They kind of don’t sound like anyone else - It’s got a real sense of identity. I particularly love the keys whenever they crop up, which give it a real propulsive energy.

The only negative for me is that the more sombre tracks don’t land as well. While I still appreciate their vibe, it is slightly jarring going from something like “I Love You” into “Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth” (for example).

Nevertheless, this is excellent, and we should celebrate it.

4.5 rounded down.

I have to go back now and edit yesterday's Beatles album because this album is miles better than that because the Beatles suck ass.

This was interesting!

I had only heard of the one song but everything else sounded strangely timeless, if I couldn't hear the vocals, I would struggle to place this in the 90s.

What on Earth were those last two tracks?
