Music to clean the dungeon to…
Rated 8/10
maybe you fucks would like this if you listened to it with headphones
Rated 6/10
Wow, that was a ride. Noise, sonic drunkenness, claustrophobia. That was a an assault. And not totally unpleasent.
Rated 8/10
I woke up this morning. Pulled on a random tshirt. A blue one with the initials mbv written on it. Then the aggregator randomiser generator thing chose an album chose an album with a blue cover and the letters mbv on the cover. The forces of synchronicity have turned me into a full kit wanker.
I’m not sure why this is on the list. But the fact that it is gives me the chance to dig it out possibly for the first time since its release year. The thing is. You know how it goes I get a craving to hear My Bloody Valentine I go to the Shoegaze section of my collection, find the bit where the m’s are about to turn into the n’s and I pull out Isn’t Anything or Loveless or The Glider ep or Tremelo but not this.
Listening again it’s a perfectly enjoyable listen but if you want a triumphant 2010’s Shoegaze return you’re better listening to Slowdive. If this was mbv’s tenth album of the millennium then I think we’d be saying they’ve still got it but we waited so long it feels like more of a letdown.
The embarrassing thing is I’ve worn the t shirt all day, found the album on my shelf, listened to it, read the wiki, wrote my review and it’s only at bedtime that I realise that I’m wearing the t-shirt of the selected album. That’s Shoegaze for ya!

I think I said something pretty similar the last time I got an album by MBV...
I think I like the idea of this band more than I actually like their music. I expect it to be cool and raw and trippy. But it's mostly just boring.
Rated 6/10
I did not enjoy this nearly as much as i did Loveless.
Don't think it has the same magic. High 3

There are many things that should make me love so much this album yet it didn't clicked.
It's solid, I like it but no I don't love it (and to be honest it's always like that with MBV).
Rated 8/10
I'm not super familiar with them, but did hear one other album on here before this. I like it, shoegaze noise pop works for me.

Pretty alright.
Rated 8/10
I’ve listened to My Bloody Valentine before and it’s definitely one of those things you have to be in the mood for. I was in the mood for this today.
Rated 6/10
Its a tough one to rate because its been ages since I've listened to Loveless.
There's a bit to like in this one I think. It hews closer to a slowdive or Cocteau Twins, I think, compared to the noisier Loveless (at least from my memory), but both those bands are much better than what I'm hearing on m b v.
What's really bringing this album down for me is the length of the songs combined with the repetition. The ideas are good, but there's not a lot of movement or development of those ideas to my ears.
So yeah. Decent album, but not great. Honestly don't know why its even on the list. Really feels like a "legacy artist releases a new album, so it gets put on" inclusion, similar to a Fetch the Bolt Cutters (Fiona Apple - yes, Fiona catching strays here, but I'll explain in my review of FTBC when I get it).
Rated 8/10
Could be 5 stars if it didn't feel like they got stuck in the same style of experimentation on the last 3 songs
Rated 8/10
Surprisingly excellent. In my head, when I see My Bloody Valentine, for some reason I always think of Type-O Negative, probably because of Bloody Kisses (and the fact that I have never really listened to either band). Suffice it to say that this album is extremely different than I expected. I was taken aback at first, but I started liking it more and more as the album continued. Using my own personal rating system, would I play this album of my own free will? You know, if I were in the right mood? I just might.
Rated 8/10
Drone-y en gefragmenteerd. Zoals een wijs reviewer zei: 'geweldig als je loveless niet kent, valt net tegen als je loveless wel kent'.
Rated 6/10
I’ve never gotten the absolute love for My Bloody Valentine that a lot of people have. I prefer other shoegaze like Slowdive or the Jesus and Mary Chain. Including their comeback album on the list feels excessive
Rated 2/10
Boring schoegazer mcguffins
Rated 2/10
Knew the artist name but had never knowingly listened to anything by them.
Very floaty vocal and fuzzy loud guitar: I thought, in the right mood, I could potentially like it, but I was clearly not in the right mood as I listened to the first 1 and a half tracks and then abandoned the whole album until the next day.
24 hours later and I don't like it any better. Only Tomorrow seems long and plodding with not enough ideas for its runtime. Then Who Sees You did basically the same thing. They seem to enjoy bending notes in a way that makes it sound like you're listening to it on faulty turntable that's struggling to run at a consistent speed.
I abandoned any attempt to comment individually on specific tracks at this point, because they pretty much all sounded the same to me (though I didn't totally hate New You). In general, the longer it went on, the more bored I became.
I was unsurprised to learn it was in the 2014 version of the book, but then got removed by later revisions. It's not as dreadful as other albums I've given a 1 star to, but 2 stars would be laughable, so:
1/5

If you're gonna make indecipherable music at least try and make it sound nice. I just put it on in the background. Where is the love x
Rated 8/10
I’m definitely into the innovative, fuzzed out, experimental guitar playing, so I dig the instrumental side of this album. I can also appreciate My Bloody Valentine’s influence on music especially because a few bands I’ve been listening to lately like Deafheaven and Agriculture have drawn direct influenced from shoegaze. That said, I just don’t really care for the dreamy, washed out vocals and the album kind of drags a bit through the middle. Overall, I did enjoy it though.
