Perfectly fine. Nothing super exciting, never wanted to turn it off.

Rated 8/10

Suprisingly organic for an electronica album. Some really great grooves but some dry spots.

Rated 8/10

This one was SOO much fun wow. I'm always sceptical of the newer additions to the book, since some of them sound like they paid to get added to the collection, but this one belongs here i think. Fun, great sounding and just short enough to not get repetitive. I would maybe rate it a low 5, but high 4 has to do

Rated 4/10

No. I really struggled with this one. Songs are way too long. Nothing interesting happens. It is like electronica mixed with indie. Modern, over produced trash. I mean, it's not bad, but I just....don't care.....

Favourite songs: Flutes, Motion Sickness

Least favorite songs: I don't know....it all sounded like the same over produced shit to me...

"Look At Where We Are" sounds partly like a common electronic sample nowadays.
The whole album is very "poppy" with some electronic parts. Interesting.

Rated 4/10

"Look at Where We Are" and "Now There Is Nothing" are solid. I can do without the rest.

Rated 2/10

Glossy but empty millennial synth pop, bright and breezy upbeat stuff that draws heavily on 80s New Wave and disco styles, sounds and rhythms. Sounds mostly like corny sitcom theme song music in the end. Gets very bad when the dancey synths dial back and they turn into sincere guitar crooners like indie Ed Sheeran (look at where we are) or into an ersatz neosoul space jazz Odyssey (now there is nothing) - awful. A byproduct of accelerating cycles of nostalgia, at its best this is fun dance music that's a great artifact of the late peak hipster moment, because of how affected, winkingly unoriginal and ultimately disposable it is.

Rated 8/10

In Our Heads was a much greater album than i was expecting. I was only expecting an okay album with a few highlights when i got my first impressions on the previews on these songs but hearing them in full has allowed me to fully appreciate just how good a lot of them are. Hot Chip's style of music in this album really shined with a lot of the tracks sounding very melodic but also being fun and groovy whenever they need to be. I also really enjoyed a lot of the lyrics as those all fit their songs very well. Not every song was perfect but when the songs were good, they were really good.
Best Song: These Chains
Worst Song: Now There Is Nothing

Rated 2/10

Very shit. Pedestrian rhythms. Dull songwriting. Unimaginative overall.

Rated 6/10

Enjoyed this a good deal, some songs go on for a bit longer than I’d like but it’s otherwise an enjoyable listen.

Rated 2/10

Not only is this bad but it’s uninteresting the whole time. 1.36

Rated 8/10

A very interesting listen that I went back and forth on. On one hand I LOVE the electronic elements, and songs like These Chains, Night and Day (my god that's a banger) and Flutes are crazy good. On the other hand I really didn't like the indie elements at all, including Look at Where We Are and Let Me Be Him which are songs I really hated. All other songs were fairly good or just ok. The album structure was weird, in that the first half was ok, it peaked in the middle, then ended flat. All around I think Night and Day is what pushed this from a 3.4 to a 3.5, awesome song. 3.5/5 -> 4/5

Rated 6/10

Ok electronic pop album. Some of it was repetitive, but it was interesting enough to get through. 3/5

Rated 8/10

Hot Chip are such a slept on band. They’re consistently weird and fun but also catchy and accessible. Personally, I’d put One Life Stand or Made in the Dark well ahead of this one but it’s still great and I’m happy to see them recognized at all.

Rated 6/10

That first song is one of the best songs I've ever heard. The rest of the album feels like it's daring you to say it's garbage. where is the line between genius and trash? I don't know but this threads that needle very carefully. A pop album that lacks populism. 2000's were a weird time.

Rated 10/10

What a totally killer electronic album. Flûtes and Ends Of The Earth are two stellar tracks. The closer is a really strong one as well

Rated 4/10

Repetitive English nonsense, trying to be "cool" and "out-there", but sounding like what a suburban accountant thinks dance music sounds like

Rated 4/10

I have heard of this band but had never listened to them until now. I found this to be a relatively bland indietronica album. The light synths and at times delicate vocals made this fade into the background for me. The drums also don’t pack enough of a punch to energize everything else. Favorite track was Flutes.

Rated 4/10

Insultingly bland

Rated 6/10

This album is very elctro pop meets Indie. Hot chip have a great sound.
