So this is how I find out they aren't British??

A lot of songs here I remember from childhood! Apart from those, the album was pretty boring and not memorable

Left over synthpop found in the back of the fridge 20 years later and microwaved into a hot on the outside cold on the inside mush. Lots of cool textures and sounds, not much in terms of hooks/songs, pretty tepid predictable beats. Stock by the numbers millenial 80s revival stuff that takes the synths more into plodding indie than into than exuberant neo-disco.

need to check this one out again

Rated 8/10

I liked it a lot.

Rated 6/10

I'm just gay enough to not care how gay this album is.

Rated 8/10

I had heard of this band before, but didn't realize this was their music or they were from post 2000. I think I may have been conflating them with Twisted Sister? Who knows? Anyways...fun album, would listen again.

Rated 2/10

First two songs are upbeat and fun. Then they play Comfortably Numb - a dull song by Pink Floyd - they fail to make it interesting and everything afterwards is pretty ordinary.

I listen to this at the time when an older lady at work (who was probably younger than I am now) leant me the cd. Just like now I grew bored. It’s all kind of low energy Deee-Lite.

Not entirely meritless especially considering the early 00s was a low point in general. 1.5.

Horrible Pink Floyd cover aside, I didn't hate this as much as I thought I might.

Люблю цей альбом, Laura - саундтрек моїх старших класів у школі.

Rated 4/10

I'm not sure what the hell I just listened to

Rated 6/10

Big gay party. Its shiny and slick and over produced and more than a bit fabulous. It dips off around halfway before picking up for the last couple of tracks. If this was a list of the best glam-pop albums then it would probably get a 5 but for me it sits around a 3.

Rated 8/10

Oh, to be half my current age and awkwardly failing to flirt with girls again.

Rated 4/10

Not a bad album, but not something I really enjoyed. I wanted to, but it just didn’t work for me. 2.5/5

I remember not liking the Scissor Sisters’ self-titled debut when it first came out. Back then I was deep into indie and mod, and this felt like the opposite of what I thought was cool.

But listening again today, I let it run—and ended up playing it three times. It’s fun, packed with pop bangers, and far better than I gave it credit for. With a broader taste in music now, I can hear the cleverness in the songwriting and the nods to Bowie, Gary Numan, and that glam-electro spirit. It’s a cool, confident record, and I’d happily put it on again when the mood strikes.

Favourite track: Filthy/Gorgeous—with Mary and Laura close behind.
Least favourite track: Honestly, every track earns its place.
Album artwork: Superb. There’s so much happening visually, and it fits the album’s energy perfectly.

Rated 4/10

This is kind of everything I dislike about 2000s music. I don’t want to say I hate it, but I definitely don’t like it.

Rated 8/10

Wasn't gay enough tbh. Picked up a lot by the second half - the first half was a bit of a slog. Tits on the Radio is great

Rated 6/10

I honestly don’t know what to make of this one. It’s fun, theatrical, and ridiculous in equal measure — part Elton John, part George Michael, and maybe a little too over the top for my taste. The Comfortably Numb cover was… an experience. I respect the creativity, but I’m not sure I’ll revisit it often.

Rated 8/10

Good fun. I wrongly judged them back in the 00s. Thought they were shallow and bubblegummy. Maybe I was a homophobe. We all deserve a second chance. This is a good album with good songs.

Rated 6/10

The Scissor Sisters’ debut is flashy, camp, and full of disco-pop energy, with clear nods to glam and Elton John. 𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘮𝘢 is the standout, capturing their mix of cheeky fun and catchy hooks at its best. It’s fun while it lasts, but the songs don’t always hold up beyond the glittery surface. A solid snapshot of early-2000s pop revival, though not something I’d revisit often.

Rated 10/10

I really quite liked it. Makes me wish scissor sisters clashed with the 1975 instead of Charli xcx.
