Era-defining but because of that extremely dated. Hard hitting but basic beats without a ton of variety. His delivery is extreme and the material explosive, covering police violence, domestic/family abuse, racism, sexism (both pro and con), money, drugs, tits, ass - the whole gamut. It really seems like he had a ton to get off his chest in the late 80s/early 90s, said his peice, and moved on. The hardcore track is a really funny amalgam of hardcore punk and hair metal - what are the wierd white kids in LA in 1989 doing? Let's show that we can do that too!

Rated 8/10

This one surprised me. I never gave much thought to Ice T, but his flows are good and the lyrical content of his songs are great. There was quite a but if variety in styles throughout. The only detractor is the length. 4/5

I saw him live recently, and the dude still misogynistic, homophobic af
Rap is not really my genre, this was ok. Enjoyed the body count half more. 2*

He loves that riff from the song Black Sabbath - sampled two albums in a row. Taste.

I always liked how Ice-T connected to the funk.

Rated 4/10

I like the rock/metal parts, but his rapping isn't really doing much for me..

Rated 10/10

I rather liked this - lots going on musically, lots to say, and it introduced me to the rather unhinged world of Body Count. Problematic in places? Definitely, but... tongue in cheek and a bit out there, so sure I can appreciate this! :)

Rated 6/10

normally I take off a star for homophobia so I guess I should add one for his defense lol

Rated 6/10

Production was pretty good. It’s a bit dated in quite a few aspects, but more or less holds up

Rated 6/10

24 songs and 72 minutes is just too long to make a good album. Some of the music is great, but there's entirely too much filler, including far too many interludes/skits.

2.5/5.0: Mixed

Rated 8/10

really enjoyable but entirely too long

Rated 8/10

This was great. Funny, self aware, earnest. Great album flow too, never got old.

Rated 4/10

Not really my cup of T 😉 … but didn’t hate it.

Rated 4/10

Tiresome and without lasting power. Simplistic, boring lyrics, and same ol' boom bap beat style without a speck of innovation.

Just so everyone knows, in case Ice-T didn't REALLY hammer this message home, he's a tough guy who gets ladies.

Rated 8/10

Ice T was only 31 when he created this masterpiece. Why does he sound like a 50 year old man? Because the streets are hard.

Rated 2/10

Pretty sure that just about all rap is just going to end in the dustbin of the 1s, no matter how objectively good it is.

Rated 10/10

Consistent and well executed. My favorite gangster rap.

Rated 6/10

3.5 holds up over time for the most part.

Rated 6/10

This is a good album. However, it is a little too long. Ice T has good flows and lyrics. The production sometimes leaves some to be desired, but I guess that’s what happens when you compare this to Dre and his other contemporaries. Also laws around sampling in the early 90’s are wild. How did everyone get rights to sample When The Levee Breaks like on Midnight? Highlights were New Jack Hustler, Bitches 2, O.G. Original Gangster, Midnight, and Body Count.
