A fairly good album. Really nothing too stand out or special, but not offensive. 2.5/5 -> 3/5.

Rated 8/10

Meat Loaf may be singing here, but rest assured this is all Jim Steinman, Meat Loaf is merely the conduit these song chose to make their way into our world.

Fun one. I think I like part two better but overall this is a solid album. 3/5

It’s fun jut a bit too musical theater for me. Amazing vocal performances though.

Rated 6/10

I mean based on the album cover I was expecting some hard rock and what i got was a kind of rock and roll ballad filled record. I enjoyed it by the end more than I thought but its still just fine

John’s first album

Rated 6/10

This is definitely worth a listen, but ultimately not really my type of music. The songs are very well written and Meatloaf's singing is great, but the whole thing is just too theatrical and melodramatic for me.

Rated 8/10

It's utterly bombastic from the off, and I kind of love that. It's unapologetic, leaning heavily into the grandiose rock opera thing. Lots of foot tapping happening across a lot of these songs, but there's a lovely ballad in 'Heaven Can Wait' too.

Rated 4/10

Not my thing at all, but you'd have to be churlish not to admire its commitment. The fact that this is done with an entirely straight face elevates it above semi-parody like The Darkness.

Rated 8/10

Grew up on this album, know and love every song

Rated 4/10

I like the concept, and Meat Loaf was obviously a larger-than-life character, but I feel like this has dated. The idea of buying an album and putting it on to "experience" it is something people don't really do anymore, right?

Rated 10/10

Rated 4/10

A little too theatrical for the metal I prefer but it's still pretty fun. Lots of quirky instrumentation and catchy lyrics.

Todays album is a glorious rock opera by Meat Loaf! This album is stacked with hits, including: Bat Out of Hell, Paradise By The Dashboard Light, and Two Out of Three Ain't Bad.

This album is ahead of its time, and sounds like it should have been released in the 80's. These huge epic rock ballads really took off in that era. Meat Loaf puts everything he has into the delivery of Jim Steinman's beautifully intricate songs. The keyboards, the motorcycle gang-esque tough leather and chain feel of the album cover as well as the music, the phenomenal soaring guitar solos, the themes of adolescent love, and lust, the sexual innuendo, everything about this album is just perfect!! Yes it may come across as cheesy, but in the most glorious of ways!!

Overall, a phenomenal album. One I've listened to many times before, and will absolutely listen to many more times to come!! An easy 5 stars!! RIP Meat Loaf, thanks for the music!!!

Favorite songs: Paradise By the Dashboard Light, Bat Out of Hell, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night), All Revved Up With No Place to Go, For Crying Out Loud, Heaven Can Wait

Least favorite songs: none, this album is a gem!

Totally musical theatre. It's outrageous! Love it.

Rated 8/10

Fond memories of my dad playing this one on nighttime car rides. There were only two songs on here I set aside on the project highlights playlist, but when the thing's good, it's great.

It was incredible to look up stuff about this, each new detail more insane than the last. E Street band fresh off of "Born to Run?!" Todd Rundgren producing it after nobody else wants to touch this? One of the best-selling albums of all time, but barely seems to have sparked any imitators?? (in the US mainstream at least. A young Tobias Sammet was probably extremely warped by listening to this, entire subgenres of metal owe a lot to it, etc)

Rated 6/10

Meatloaf is cheesy. But it works, somehow. It's not great, it's not bad, I don't hate it, I don't love it. The songs may be a little long for me.

Rated 4/10

I only like Meatloaf in Rocky Horror, where he has his place but is used sparingly.
