Yeah it’s pretty meh, literally nothing else to say really
Rated 2/10
Man, I’m not enough of a Fantasy fan for this. It feels like pesky gnomes and goblins are trying to enchant me with kazoos and sploing instruments for 49 minutes.
I recognize that there’s more artistic merit to the record than the haters give it credit for… but that also goes for any 1-star rating given on this list, and I can say with certainty that this goes straight to the bottom from a personal enjoyment point of view.
Standout: Three Is a Green Crown
Rated 2/10
Honestly trying to give this album a fair shake, but everytime it hits on something halfway decent (Witches Hat before it gets into the annoying lalalas), the sharp, high pitched sitar/instruments come in, with weird/silly vocal and instrument choices come in (kazoos for instant).
It's way too silly for how straight their playing it. And there's a dissonance to it that sometimes just sours me.
It sounds like a mixture of Ren Faire/medieval vibey music mixed with a really bad attempt at replicating the Beatles' sound when they were getting into their weird, drug fueled psychedelic stuff. And no surprise, the Beatles knew what they were doing, whereas I feel like these guys don't.
Waltz of the New Moon might have saved it, but the singing is just killing it for me.
I really don't want to dish out the 1. It's not viscerally hitting me like some of my other 1s, it's at least just barely tolerable. But I also can't honestly sit here and say I enjoy any bit of this either. It's just consistently mediocre. Robert Plant apparently heard something in this to be influenced by it, but it's going right over my head.
This is either the highest of 1s or the lowest of 2s. But I think I'll have to give the 1. I just don't enjoy it.

Boring, predictable, repetitive and cliche. Apple Music says it's one of the "most...innovative and influential records of the late 60s," but to me it sounds like you're going to a renaissance fair, or playing a guitar, barefoot, on the street in San Francisco.

The Good: At least the Hangman’s got something positive…
The Bad: What’s the use of having such a daughter if you’re hanging people?
The Ugly: Realizing that there’s nothing incredible about the strings, or the band…
Weirdest thing happened: when originally this album was presented to me, I did not know what to think of it. So I listened, and then I listened again, and I believe that I gave it a third spin after that… Yet still I was uncertain if this album is just one of those sleeper things, or my taste in music is getting worse and worse.
Fast forward a couple of months, and I decided to give the album one more spin prior to rating it… and I was not able to find anything special about it.
More so, I was starting to really not like it…
So now what do I do? Do I rate it low, like so many people have done? Or do I shoot down the middle?…
Gonna give it 3*… Might listen to it again in the future, if I recall of the album...

What a WEIRD album. And not really in a good way. 1.5/5
Rated 6/10
review after two listens and a bit more research: think we've got a grower on our hands. goddamn if these strings aren't incredible. i'll take freaky over twee. there's a lot going on here, and it's wonderfully recorded. unorthodox song structures that employ repetition to cover linear ground. was able to take in more of the chants, and the whole thing washes over you nicely if you lie back and let it. the playing is beautiful.
Rated 6/10
Saw some of the reviews and the global rating and assumed the worst. People are being way too harsh here. It's experimental sure but it's not as bad as some of the generic crap that made the list.
It would be a very boring list if experimental and innovative albums like this were excluded.
2.5/5. Raising to a 3.

I saw the global rating for this one and strapped myself in for something special. The people are wrong. This is not that bad. Lotta drugs were used here. Very experimental and it keeps me interested for the whole duration. Would I listen again? Probably not, but I’m glad I did. Favorites were The Minotaur’s Song, Mercy I Cry City, and Three Is. A Green Crown.

I really wanted to like it, and it started out OK. But by the end, I was preeeeettttttyyyyy over it.
Rated 8/10
jako mi je drago da sam ovo čuo. žešće brije, ali sviđa mi se. ima užasne ocjene na ovoj stranici, stoga dajem četvorku :)

I'll preface this by saying that this is much better than most of the lesser known 60s psychedelia that I've gotten in this generator. However, I don't think I really in the right state of mind to judge it properly, if you know what I mean. It's not really a "Monday morning in the home office" kind of album. I did enjoy a lot of the instrumentation though, and especially liked "The Minotaur's Song" and "Walz of the New Moon". Maybe I'll come back to it again some night after a few jars.

Eclectic, psychedelic folk music using a variety of weird instruments. On paper, this should be right up my alley. In reality, I don't think I'm quite high enough to fully appreciate this album. Overall, there were some good moments on it, but it was just a bit too out there and I don't think I'll be seeking this one out again.
Favourite track: Nightfall
As an aside, Rain by Dando Shaft started auto playing after this album finished. I had never heard of them before, but I'm checking out their debut album, An Evening with Dando Shaft, and it absolutely deserves to be on this list. This is the psychedelic folk music I signed up for! I'd give it a 5/5 so far.
Rated 2/10
This was a really hard listen for me. The flutes didn't sound very nice and the songs just didn't catch my attention.
Rated 4/10
It's absolutely dreadful, but also kind of funny with it. They at least seem self-aware. If this were more earnest then it'd be intolerable.
1.5 rounded up.

This album is ok - I am glad I listened to it again 3/5 #musicsky #albumsky

If you'd like to hear how copious amounts of drug abuse, out of tune instruments, and kazoos all sound like together, this album is for you! These idiots couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. As soon as I saw they were Scottish, I knew I was in for a treat. This is absolutely horrendous.
Favorite songs: The Minotaur's Song
Least favorite songs: A Very Cellular Song, Witches Hat, Swift as the Wind, Mercy I Cry City, Three Is a Green Crown, Nightfall.....and the rest of this dumpster fire.....

I'm not sure how something can be so Christian while also sounding like a pagan ritual that will end up with your sacrifice. But it also sounds interesting and I think the band pushed psych-folk forwards technically. Surely an influence on the Super Furry Animals as well.
Rated 6/10
Now we know what the music would have sounded like if psychedelic drugs were introduced in medieval times.
