I always find myself struggling to rate albums that are more about vibe than songwriting. But I liked this album, even if it faded into background music for me more often than not.
I think you need to take into account the precedent this albums was setting for artists who came later: Daft Punk, Air, and Holy Fuck all feel like they exist as direct responses to the stylings of this album.

Those are some pretty big beats you have there, it'd be a shame if something happened to them.

Even being a huge fan of them, the album has not aged well over the years and feels quickly repetitive. 3.75
Rated 4/10
A very boring electronic album, and I'm starting to get the feeling that's the story for every big beat album. They all just give off the same vibe of not being interesting enough to make it in today's musical economy, not when so many songs have advanced so far past this, and while context when reviewing a piece of music is important, this still fails to interest me any way. There's something to hook you in at the beginning, and the use of actual lyrics at the end helps again, but between that just feels like you're getting the same information over and over until its finally over. It sprinkles good moments throughout, but hardly enough for me to imagine this actually being danceable at any point in time. Racing music at its finest. Nothing more or less.

Bangers.

This is one of the more tolerable electronica/techno albums on this list. At 49 minutes of runtime, the album doesn't overstay its welcome, which is so popular with other albums in the genre. This music also has a back beat, or pulse to it which is absent from so many other electronica acts.
Most of the songs on the record flow into each other, making this record feel like one big concept album. This is neat, but makes it easy to zone out and miss a few song transitions making it hard to rate individual tracks.
Overall, surprised to say that it wasn't bad. Nothing spectacular, but average.
Favourite songs: Leave Home, In Dust We Trust, Song to the Siren, Three Little Birdies Down Beats, Chemical Beats
Least favourite songs: One Too Many Mornings, Playground for a Wedgeless Firm, Chico's Groove

The Brothers Gonna Work It Out.
10 sterren!

Probably just the nostalgia of teenage years full of promise and hopes and dreams, but the late 90's really were awesome weren't they?
Rated 4/10
Boring and repetitive, as most dance or EDM tends to be. Any music that needs you to be off your face to enjoy is not for me.
Not even up to the standard of their later work, absolutely no need for this to be on the list.

Enjoyed this!
Rated 4/10
I didn't really enjoy this. As far as electronic music goes, this wasn't horrible as it wasn't droning on and on for an hour. A lot of it sounded the same to me.
Rated 2/10
I can't say that my feelings have changed much from week 2, when 'Dig your Own Hole' came up. Honorable mention for 'One Too Many Mornings' dub/ambient vibe that manages to at least mask the repetition in an airy and moody soundscape that feels like floating on a musical cloud. Dishonorable mentions for the tracks 'Alive Alone' and 'Life Is Sweet', which both manage to combine a series of disinteresting loops and rubbish vocals to make something that is synergistically bad.

Chemical Brothers on musta ollu ihan kiinnostavaa, mutta ei mitään lempparimusaa. 3/5.

Of the electronic albums I've listened to (which is, admittedly, not a lot) this is my favorite. The album is structured more like a rock album, and it sounds as much like the mid 90s as a SoCal ska album would.
I'm still not a huge fan of this particular genre, but this album I like.

Loved this album. I had missed Exit Planet dust back when it came out...didn't start listening until Dig Your Own Hole. I think this is now my favorite Chemical Bros release. Love the slowdown songs at the end of the album. 4/5

Good dance album, great start then slows down a bit, maybe gets a little repetitive
Rated 10/10
Fucking love Chemical Brothers. One of the first bands I ever really fell in love with and they still have a special place in my heart. While I think they got even better than this debut, it's still absolutely killer.
Rated 8/10
Cool rock electronica fusion. I appreciate the roomy kit sound. Playground For A Wedgeless Firm is probably my favorite track.
