It's got 2 fantastic singles on and the rest of the songs are also pretty good. Hehe

Where Psychedelic Rock really hit the mainstream. Both White Rabbit and Somebody To Love has become staples for Classic Rock stations, and for good reason. White Rabbit especially is one of the best build up in any song to date. The rest of the album is pretty good as well. Not every song is a hit, but they all fulfill the Psychedelic spookyness really well and set a tone. There are better Psychedelic albums from this year and even better Jefferson Airplane albums though.

There's a couple of really great songs on here, but also a lot of filler.

3.0/5.0: Good

Rated 8/10

pretty good but any longer and it would've gotten boring

Rated 8/10

Some good guitar tunes on this album

Mixed bag. Couple of proper bangers though.

Es ist ein faszinierendes Zeitdokument der späten 60er: psychedelisch, mutig und voller ikonischer Momente. Die Mischung aus träumerischen Harmonien und kraftvollen Rockelementen wirkt bis heute frisch. “Somebody to Love” – Der energiegeladene Hit mit Grace Slicks markanter Stimme. “White Rabbit” – Der psychedelische Klassiker, inspiriert von Alice im Wunderland. Top Songs die das Album abrunden.

This was good! An unexpected classic hidden in its songs that I did not know was their song. I'm going to listen to them more in the future (specifically this album) whenever I get more time. I liked a lot of these songs especially "Comin' back to me"

As much as I enjoy psych rock and proto-prog, this is some boring psych rock.

Rated 8/10

I enjoyed Surrealistic Pillow quite a bit more than i thought i would have. It has that typical sound of a 60s Psychedelic rock album like The Beatles or The Beach Boys but i think i would compare this most to The Mamas And The Papas due to the addition of a female singer. This easily is some of the more enjoyable psych-rock sounds i have ever heard with it being good ear candy without getting too weird. I thought that the vocals here were good too with each of the singers all giving some really good performances. I also think this went at the perfect pace, enough to give me my fill but not too long. This is easily among the better psych-rock albums on this list.
Best Song: Comin' Back To Me
Worst Song: White Rabbit

Surprisingly better than I was expecting. Bit on the long side, could have done with cutting out a few tracks

Rated 4/10

Somebody to Love is great, the rest not so much .most arenot very distinctive, but still pleasant psych-folk/rock. While this is a pretty important album embodying the sound of the summer of love it is not actually great - merely distinctive and solid.

Weird mixing of the slick vocals make it seem like I’m listening in the next room .

Rated 8/10

Pretty much what I think of when I think of psychedelic rock. A little long but I enjoyed it overall.

Rated 4/10

Just left me cold. I get why it’s on the list as a key part of the flower power movement….its therefore historically significant.

As a listen with modern ears (and a first listen for me) I just find it another one that’s stuck in its moment and hasn’t aged very well.

Glad I gave it a go, but won’t be coming back again.

2.5 rounded down to a 2

lol so you're telling me this was nearly 0.90 higher in rating than the Nico album when this was less interesting by a mile in comparison? Yeah, "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" are both amazing songs, but the non-hits kinda suck ass. So much variance in quality across this band's entire career. For every "Jane" or "White Rabbit" there was also a "We Built This City"

Rated 8/10

There are a lot of late sixties psychedelic albums on here but this one is one of the best for sure.

Rated 6/10

Apparently, this is considered one of the more essential records of the psychedelic era. Musically, it's solid, with good guitar playing and an excellent female vocalist(the male one is alright, but doesn't hold a candle to the lady). However, the drums leave a bit to be desired. Lyrically, some tracks try for profundity and succeed somewhat, though others are more cookie-cutter. The songs are short and try for hookiness somewhat, with mixed results. Overall, I'm mostly indifferent towards this. It has some good tracks and some mediocre ones, but it lacks any truly great tracks.

Rated 2/10

There were so many great psyche albums made in 1967. This isn’t one.

This sounds like a load of nepo babies bought some beads and made an album. It’s the kind of easy listening slop an AI programme would make if you asked for a psych song and were using the free version. Occasionally Grace Slick starts screaming like Stevie Nicks or a banshee with a septic ulcer. Shudder.

You can really hear how this lot of charlatans made it big in the soundtracks of the 80’s. A terrible band that stuck around long enough to thrive in pop culture’s most terrible period.

Rated 10/10

Better than Coldplay
