The further back in his catalog we go, the more I like Miles Davis; less experimental and more normal. I typically like when musicians push boundaries, but not with screeching horns; it's like an icepick in my ear.
They say if you don't like Miles Davis, you don't like jazz. That's bullshit. I love jazz but I only listen to Miles Davis when this list makes me. It's just generally not enjoyable for me. That said, this album was ok. There was too much of what I don't like and too little of what I do like in jazz to rate this very highly

Kind of Blue von Miles Davis hat 5 Sterne von mir bekommen. Cool Jazz ist mir aber definitiv zu stressig. Aber für die damalige Zeit bestimmt ein Hit

Yassss, kween. Excited for some jazz.
This jazz is busier than I'm used to listening to. I also have no basis to know or understand if/how this album is good or important. All I really know about jazz is if I like it or not.
I actually know track 1, Move. I have no idea how but I somehow do. Track 3, Moon Dreams, feels like it's from a noir film, I kinda love it. Track 5, Budo, is great. It's busy but still familiar to other jazz I listen to. Track 7, Godchild is great, feels very classically jazz, so good to listen to whilst working. Oh man, track 8, Boplicity is soooo good.

Ovaj me album nije ni blizu impresionirao kao njegov prošli i sad, čitajući biografiju i historiju, imam i objašnjenje. Ovo je puno "običniji" album bez puno eksperimentacije. Opet nije ni najmanje loš.

Nice and cosy trumpet things - I like the sounds and the feeling of the music and it made me happy so it gets five.
Rated 8/10
It's the quintessential jazz album for me among a few others my dad used to listen to. It holds both and special place and up. It's a classic piece and it's splendid.

After spending time with a range of jazz records during this challenge, I can confidently say that Miles Davis is a master of his craft. His technical skill and musical intuition are undeniable, and I understand why he is held in such high regard within the genre.
That said, jazz simply doesn’t resonate with me. Despite recognizing the artistry involved, I find the music unengaging — it tends to blur together and leave little lasting impression. It’s a genre that, for me, lacks emotional connection or excitement.
Favourite Track: Jeru stood out with its lighter, more melodic tone — it was the one moment that genuinely caught my attention.
Least Favourite: Unfortunately, much of the rest of the album felt indistinct; the tracks seemed to merge into one continuous, unmemorable experience.
Album Artwork: A classic, minimal jazz cover — fitting but nothing remarkable.

I'm going to be listening to this more. Really good, complex, and complete feeling.

Sonorous, jazzy, ear catching and cool
Rated 8/10
I love this album. I've listened to this so many times I'm surprised the grooves are still on the record. It's not Kind of Blue, it's less engaging than that but it's more of a 'play in the background' kind of album. It's super short, loses points for that but that may have been a result of the limitations of the time. I mean Miles Davis is one of the best ever, and he's definitely done better than this record. But still, even Miles Davis's run of the mill record is better than most. 4/5

Despite overall enjoyment, minus points for compilation album.

Very pleasant Jazz. Shorter tracks played by incredibly skilled musicians.

Great way to start this 1001 Albums project! It’s probably not something I want to listen to every day, but I love this album! Definitely very cool!
Rated 8/10
This was a really good cool jazz album. Some big jazz hits on here and some chill moments. Not the most impressive or standout of all time but certainly very great. 4/5

Except for when they shift to slower songs, almost everything on this album sounds the same to me and pretty basic jazz. I get that the style may have been unique when it came out, but the uniqueness is subtle and still doesn't change the fact that the style is too same-same throughout. Fine as background music, but didn't draw me in.

great listening.

Background music. I forgot I was listening to it. I think his later albums got more experimental and I assume they are on this list, but this feels a little generic. Great musicianship is stellar but I zoned out...
Rated 10/10
Absolute classic. Max Roach for the win. Some of Miles' most joyful melodies. Crucial.

What's cool is this is as much the birth of an idea, an aesthetic, a posture, as it is superb music. Not much to say here - Miles inventing again.
Rated 8/10
Third stream classic nonet recording, immensely important in its day, somewhat of a timepiece, as Jazz moved in different directions afterwards, largely due to the influence of a number of these participants
