Feels like I'm at the part in a Rankin Bass movie where the lone female character starts singing her solo song and you would fast forward through it as child. A little bit boring, but she has a beautiful voice.

More Dusty?! Gummon m8

She cool though

Was expecting country when I got this, honestly, but happy that's not what it was.

Pretty much this whole album is beautiful and perfect, just not a ton is jumping out at me. Every so often though, a song catches my attention and its fantastic, particularly The Windmills of Your Mind. I've definitely heard Son of a Preacher Man before.
I might listen to it again, but right now feeling a very high 3 right now.

Rated 10/10

Pretty much a perfect album and I'm not even really a ballad or country fan. Wouldn't change a note.

Rated 3/10

I can appreciate why some people adore Dusty Springfield and why some people are frustrated that this feels like appropriation. A white english lady singing soul music will do that, I guess. "Son Of A Preacher Man" is a classic, otherwise I'd be content to let this one collect dust.
"The Windmills Of Your Mind" gets an honorable mention for sounding like a James Bond song.

melhor e mais bem arranjado que o último dela né
mais maduro e até meio sexy. no mais é soul para pessoas brancas, mas é gostosim até vai

Dusty Springfield had such a great voice, and these songs and arrangements suit her perfectly. Is the "being good isn't always easy, no matter how hard I try" verse in Son of a Preacher Man the sexiest delivery in pop?

Rated 8/10

This album feels like a relic of the past. It's got the sound of 60s sweeping arrangements. she has a sort of honeyed voice. her vocals are super forward in the mix. It's not my usual jam, I'm not really into vocal drive singer highlighted music, but I get why this is considered a classic.

I get why this is an important album and the woman can sing but it sounds like it's 55 years old, which of course it is. The recording is just too dated to me. It's great, it's just not for me

Rated 10/10

For all the absolute slop this list has suggested, every now and again it recommends something great. This is regarded as a classic masterpiece and rightfully so.

Rated 8/10

Significantly better than the other Dusty Springfield album on this list (so far?). She seemed like she learned to sing finally and the songs weren't terrible. Several of the songs sounded familiar even though I don't think I've ever heard any of them. Not bad, even for a country record. 4/5

Didn’t want to finish but I did

Mixed feelings on this as an album.
Did I enjoy listening to Dusty Springfield, yes very much so!
Do I feel this is anything more than a loose collection of cover songs? Not really.

That said, Son of a Preacher Man is a stellar track... an extra star, thanks to Mr. Tarantino!

Rated 8/10

Not always my absolute *favorite* style of music, but there's enough variation here to keep it interesting, and Dusty's voice is marvelous.

Dusty Springfield singing a lot of beautiful cover versions of some of the most iconic songs of the 60's. Son Of A Preacher Man is the big hit, but I actually prefer a lot of the other, more orchestrally expansive songs on this album. The Windmills Of Your Mind and No Easy Way Down are my favorites here. It's quite reminiscent of Elvis in Memphis in that its a solid collection of orchestral 60's pop covers. Just a beautiful album and a joy to listen to.

Rated 4/10

Doesn't do much for me, sorry Dusty. Too squeaky clean. I prefer a little grit in my oyster.

Rated 6/10

I initially wondered why this reminded me of Carole King until I looked at the credits and everything made sense. Son Of A Preacher Man is a classic and this record as a whole has some great moments. Favorites were So Much Love, Son Of A Preacher Man, Breakfast In Bed, and The Windmills Of Your Mind.

Rated 8/10

Classic and beautiful. Dusty's voice is the main draw here and remarkably still holds up today in my opinion.

Wasn’t for me at all. If it wasn’t for Son of a Preacher Man it would be a 1⭐️
