I can see the appeal, but the whole thing is not for me. It has its shining moments, like the opener and Head Cut, which are more upbeat than the rest, which is not my cup of tea. Really like the tribal thumping of the drums, though.

I think if they put this album out 2 years later it has more commercial success and hits. Everything sounded alright but the punk influence is still a little to strong on this one, so there's no tracks that really hook you. They are like the boring Bangles. 3 stars

I'd like to thank the music gods for giving me the most perfect Halloween album just in time for Halloween

Rated 10/10

yeah i love this shit . powerful catchy riffs, siouxsie's voice absolutely kills, & that drummingggg is just so good. love the slightly polished but still gritty diy sound. i haven't seen any recordings but i bet they had a really fun live show. perfect ooky spooky goth halloween time music. definitely gonna keep playing this one for a bit.

Essential goth listening

This was great! Noisy guitars and a very angry voice! 🤝 One of the best post-punk albums we've had

Spellbound is a hell of a song. Good album all round too

A marvelous record, the kind of thing that makes me say “yay, I know I'm going to like this” when I reveal my album of the day. I never had a copy of this Siouxsie album, but I of course know several of the songs like "Spellbound" and of course "Halloween." This is what I love about this project - there are so many albums from the 80s and 90s that I never got around to going back to because I was off into some different thing.

The rock/post-punk/whatever music I like best has a certain scary movie kind of tension to it, and this is just that sort of thing. I'm glad to hear some of the tracks I hadn't heard at all or in a very long while, like "Into the Light" (with a bit in the background that reminded me of some Eno song that I can't remember at the moment), "Monitor," and "Night Shift." And “Sin in My Heart," with the guitar that sounds like a piece of metal being struck. Oh, and the frenzied ending to "Voodoo Dolly."

Well ok the whole album, really, and particularly the guitar.

Siouxsie and the Banshees have improved considerably from their debut, *The Scream*, to their fourth album, *Juju*. The guitar now carries the songs effectively, and Siouxsie herself has, in the meantime, developed a voice that’s a pleasure to listen to for an entire hour. Added to this are songs with a distinct identity of their own and, as a result, high recognizability.
I would even agree with those who already recognize the blueprints for later gothic rock here. Very nice - not quite top-tier, but well above average and rightfully on the list.

This sounded pretty meh to me on the first pass, but reading the other reviews and the Wikipedia article, it seems like I may have missed something. I think I'll take a second look at it this weekend

Rated 6/10

Not very bad and I would’ve liked it more in a different context

4,5. Really great. Love the vocals

I really don't know why I didn't get into Siouxsie when I was younger -- this music is exactly up my alley and I had a lot of friends who were into her. I think I didn't totally understand goth at that point (which is ironic because I was a teenager). Anyway, this is great and I would listen to this over and over again. I look forward to adding this to a bunch of spooky Halloween playlists.

I think her later records were better, more memorable. She has some punkish energy that works but I prefer her lighter, poppier material that prioritized synthesizers over the post-punk stuff she was going for here

Rated 4/10

There's nothing truly wrong with this album, but I just didn't get anything from it. I probably wouldn't listen again.

Rated 6/10

Not really my favorite genre, but it was a fine listen. I do like the goth aesthetic, but the vocals may be a bit too glammy.
