It’s been almost 20 years since I listened to this during my Residents phase that was mostly influenced by an old friend who has since passed away. Back then, this might’ve gotten a 4.
Despite the nostalgia, and some fun moments, this is pretty grating and I’m not mad it’s been so long since I listened. Will I ever listen again? Maybe not.
Rated 8/10
My thought process: "Ooh, I'm getting some good punk tod- why is it rated so low? Oh, this isn't The Descendents or The Replacements..."
So anyways, this is a weird one. It's a Looney Tunes horror show by way of Primus, and Bugs Bunny is on LSD or something (well, the other way around. This is Primus before they existed. Insane to imagine there is a less accessible Primus).
Maybe I'm just in the right kind of bad mood today, but for some reason this is hitting? Is it something I'd ever listen to in my free time? Absolutely not. Will I ever go back to it? Probably not.
Like, I get why this is one of the lowest rated albums on the list, and it kinda deserves it. It's not a comfortable listen, and I don't think there is a single pleasant sound on this thing. Everything is screechy, dissonant, high pitched horns and electronics and intentionally bad vocals. But I'm weird and can enjoy uncomfortable things if its got a weird horror vibe, albeit a messed up cartoon version.
I'm kinda afraid I'm overrating because its rated so low, but I kind of like this thing also? It's weird.

Unique..

I could get into this but im in not in a weird music typa vibe rn so not today
Rated 6/10
So avant garde it's almost not music at points? Still, I find it compelling and enjoyable as a detour. Glad they exist.

Maybe avant-pop isn't for me... at least not this kind.
While I'm positive that songs like Lizard Lady, Birthday Boy, and Hello Skinny made major impressions on Les Claypool, they don't hold me enough to warrant a revisit of this album in the future. I did save Birthday Boy on Spotify just in case I need to ruin somebody's big day.
Rated 4/10
Weird, but not unlistenable. 1 and done is good for me on this one however. 2/5
Rated 6/10
The Good: These boys aren’t illegal…
The Bad: Aggression against poultry…
The Ugly: Everything!
Wow!
This is what I signed up for when I started this journey, listening to something so bizarre it makes you wonder about everything and nothing at all.
Did I like it? At times I really did, and at other times I was counting the seconds before I would allow myself to hit the skip button…
This has changed my perception on avant-garde music though.
And I applaud the effort…
3* because the odds of me listening to this a third time in my life is doubtful, but a second listen is in the cards...

I like weird, but this one's weird with a capital WEIRD. But it wasn't bad - there are some weird ones on this list that are painful to listen to - this one didn't hurt to hear. The most interesting thing to me was how much you could hear the influence on Primus. In fact, there were lots of times the singer sounded exactly like Les Claypool (well, the other way around, since Les would have been 15 when this album came out). I probably wouldn't seek this out again, but it was definitely interesting. Favorite tracks: Sinister Exaggerator (this was the first time I thought of Les Claypool. Wasn't surprised to see Primus covered this song), Laughing Song, Bach is Dead, Krafty Cheese.

Weird album. From the opening notes I thought it was going to be too much. But I actually listened to it a couple of times and it grew on me. I would listen to it again, it is just nice to have some oddness and eccentricity every now and then.
Rated 10/10
This is a very subjective 4 that I will bump up to a 5, solely out of spite for the people on this website giving this thing a 2 on average.
Listen, I’ve heard some BAD shit on this list. Like, really, really bad shit. This is not a bad album; it’s just a weird album. Even among weird albums, I’ve heard weirder, like Kollaps, Locust Abortion Technician or Trout Mask Replica. With a literal 2 average, I was expecting this to be loud, obnoxious, exponentially strange & so extremely avant-garde that it has no sense of commercial value & exists only as an extreme example of what music itself is.
And yet, it’s not that at all. It’s truly just a weird album. It’s totally musically competent, with some genuinely enjoyable soundscapes & some fun production that feels ahead of the curve on a couple of tracks. It’s primarily a rock album, sure, but it dabbles in such a variety of styles that it’s hard to lock this down to any one specific genre. It’s incredibly experimental, & the only time it ever truly borders on obnoxious is the loudness of the electrocution at the very end of the album, but even that’s justified in its usage as a storytelling device, changing this person’s personality like it’s a fucked up psych ward. Lyrically, there’s a lot of nonsensical garbage (positive), but when this album wants to try and tell a story, it knows when to pull back on the oddities and let a bit of fun writing & imagery shine through. Hell, even vocally, I think the weird pitching effects give the whole album a sort of Looney Tunes vibe. It really does feel sort of like a comedy album, so approaching it with a way more fun lens that allows for this sort of experimentation made it all click better.
I genuinely am trying to justify why this has an average of 2 at all – maybe my brain can pull more from video game soundscapes & the eccentricities in them. At the very least, my experience with all of the other strange albums on this list lessens how awkward this might feel. For a lot of people, this is going to bounce off of them like a pinball to a bumper. Even then, the third-lowest rated album on the entire site? It’s not even remotely that bad, & at the very least, it’s captivatingly strange, which is more than I can say for a handful of truly dreadfully boring albums.
Honestly, it really is worth a listen before you die, because if this doesn’t feel that abrasive to you, then you’ve probably passed the test for the REALLY weird shit on this list, or just weirder shit in general. As far as my experience goes, I genuinely really liked it – it's a 3 at worst, but I’m at a 4 because a few too many tracks felt a bit repetitive & not as compelling as some of the other, weirder ones. However, for the sake of the site, I’m absolutely giving this a 5 to try and skew the ratings back upwards.

For a band and an album with such an experimental reputation I'm surprised at how similar all the tracks sound. A wee bit too on the wacky side of things for me but a fun listen.
Rated 2/10
Did not need to listen to this before dying. It's like any old fool can make an "album" and put it out.
What I don't understand is why so many of these tracks have the dots of "favorite tracks" in Apple music.
Rated 2/10
14 canciones y 38 minutos. Me suena el nombre, pero no sé si los he escuchado alguna vez. Mmm por cultura musical vale, como música me parece una tomadura de pelo. 1 estrella.
Rated 6/10
This album is deeply, deeply weird, but I kind of like it...? That is, I obviously don't like it, it's terrible... but it IS funny... and I enjoyed finding out what would come next, and was met many times with more weird, mad shit... which is obviously bad and not something you would want to listen to... but it's also kind of great and I kind of love them and want to hang out with them. It's either a complete, ridiculous joke or a masterpiece, I'm not sure. Either way I'm actually glad I listened to this one.
2.5 rounded up.
Rated 6/10
Goofy, weird and fun. These giant eyeballs are playing weird tunes and having a blast.
Very much a not for everybody album, but worth the listen in my opinion.
Rated 2/10
Every other album I've given a 1 is now retroactively a 3 by comparison to this shit
I know now this list is a complete joke, a perfect execution in trolling. There is no universe where this album or this band should be recognized for anything, except for producing a plethora of garbage. I regret ever starting this list and I no longer want to finish it.
Rated 2/10
Entertainingly weird but I'm not sure how much I'd actually listen to it as it's genuinely unpleasantly out of key a lot. I'm interested but in a purely intellectual way.
Rated 2/10
Utter garbage. I’m up for a bit of avant-garde as much (if not a little bit more) than the next man, but 💩 needs to be called 💩. An unpleasant, tuneless assault on the ears.
Rated 10/10
Ingeniously demented
