The singer reminded me so much of the Pet Shop Boys that I was distracted much of the time.

Refreshing sound for 60s pop

This may be a hot take, but it's like a better Mannheim Steamroller.

Really good alternative, almost tinged with Springsteen; like The National but obviously far ahead of that time. Stripped down in just the right way, not too much. I couldn't stop listening.

Interesting to hear new wave, not what I expected from Brian Eno
Wow! This was an incredible album. I've never heard of Spiritualized before, unfortunately. "Broken Heart" makes me sit up and listen closely every time I hear it.

Not what I was expecting from the B-52's! More like the Talking Heads than I thought. Very refreshing.
This was interesting to listen to, as a time capsule. I did not know they were the first to sing Love Hurts.

I enjoyed this but it didn't have enough to really hook me. I do enjoy some meandering prog rock, but I still need something I can attune to.
Rated 6/10
I'm not a storytelling fan but these songs were catchy.
The prog lean toward the end saved this one for me. I was not a fan of the more traditional songs.
What a day to be assigned this album, after Dolly Parton died the day before. This was a great send off. She lifts the whole album up with her distinctive voice.

A fun exploration of alternative sounds that I recognize even from music made decades later. I want to rate this higher but it has too many 80s-rock elements that I don't enjoy.

Clearly influenced by Joni Mitchell! This was an interesting update on that format.
Rated 6/10
Not for me, but I do appreciate the music they were making, especially in the context of their time.

Never heard this before but it was incredible! Hard to understand how this fits into the scene in 1991, but music to my ears.
Rated 10/10
This is Nirvana at some of their best. It's just missing some of the raw anger of In Utero.

Absolute classic

This album was great, I really loved it. I don't remember listening to anything by this group before but apparently I'd already saved the title track before.
Rated 8/10
Lots of fun to listen to, though it's not usually my style. I can see how this would have blown some minds when it came out, and I respect my brother-in-law's love for this music.
