SupernovaNova Twins

Rated 10/10

I am shocked that i went from getting Deloused in the Comatorium to Supernova because that mean't i got 2 top 10 albums back to back. This was my first album of the new additions and man oh man, what a way to start it off. This album represents so much of what i love about nu-metal bands like Korn, Static-X and many others. The guitars are heavy and distorted in all the best ways, the synths were awesome, the album cut a quick pace and the melodies were so catchy. I really can't think of anything that this album does wrong, It is just nothing but a love letter to nu-metal fans like myself so it's an easy 5 star album.
Best Song: Antagonist
Worst Song: Power

Deloused in the Comatorium was so good. This music is the kind of post-hardcore that i enjoy so much and it does so much with it's genre that it makes it so much more than just a random album of it's genre. It has all the guitars and melodies i would expect from this genre but it also has all these electronic elements which seriously add to it and the vocals were really good too even if i could see how some others wouldn't like them. In general, i could see how this might not be up some people's alleys due to it's very experimental nature but overall i had a super fun time with this album and I'm sad i didn't experience this sooner.
Best Song: Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of)
Worst Song: Tira Me a Las Aranas

Club Classics Vol. One was a pretty middling album with some slight ups and downs. I have never heard of this band and from looking at this title with no context would have made me thought it was a compilation CD of several neo-soul or dance artists. As for the album itself, the neo-soul vibe is nice and i wouldn't be surprised if the Persona series took inspiration from this album. If i could think of some issues for this album, the main one would be the fact that i don't think we needed both African Dance and Dance and the former did not need to be 6 minutes either. Other than that, i really can't think of much else wrong of this album. It's not bad, not great, just in the middle.
Best Song: Back To Life
Worst Song: African Dance

Jazz Samba is background music in the truest sense of the word. This is yet another elevator album (sure has been a long time since i brought that term up) and it fits pretty much all the situations that elevator albums would fit like playing in a coffee shop or waiting on a customer service phone line. I think that it is some pretty nice jazz music with some good musicianship on display and i like that it is more honest with itself and doesn't try to trick me into thinking it will be something different (cough cough Getz/Gilberto). I still think that this is kinda bland which works as background music but doesn't work as well as a serious listening experience which is what i'm typically going for.
Best Song: Samba Triste
Worst Song: E Luxo So

Highway 61 Revisited is my favorite Bob Dylan album so far though i almost didn't listen to it by complete accident. I got this confused with a cover album by Chris Dylan which i assumed was a remastered album but thankfully i caught that before i listened meaning i got the correct version. Anyways, i quite liked this one. It had all the energy i would expect from a Bob Dylan album and i had no issue with his voice despite that being a common point of criticism with his older albums. My only real issue with this album is The Great Harmonica Assault Of 1965 in a few songs. Other than that though, this was a solid listen.
Best Song: Ballad of a Thin Man
Worst Song: Desolation Man

Honestly, I don't know why Tank Battles gets so much hate, it was actually a really good album. This is yet another entry to the bottom 20 on both the site and the discord server but it 100% is far from my bottom 20. Because of this album's bad reputation, i just assumed it was gonna be a noisy jazz album but i got more of this musical style album even if it has no accompanying musical. The music was handled really well by some very talented musicians and Krause's voice and the lyrics of each song were very smart. It's not perfect, There are points where the album feels like it's overstaying it's welcome a bit but overall, I actually really enjoyed this one.
Best Song: Song of a German Mother
Worst Song: Mother Beinleim

The Predator is probably the best Ice i'm getting on this list. This one definitely does take after Ice Cube's prior album when it comes to lyrical themes like condemning racism and unfortunately glorifying misogyny but the beats and production have taken on far more of a 90s skin moving away from the more 80s like production of both Straight Outta Compton and AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. I do really like the beats and production because they have all that i would enjoy from this era and they don't sound too dated and there were some pretty smart lyrics on offer while also unfortunately having some bad ones too. Like i said up top, this is the best Ice on the whole list.
Best Song: When Will They Shoot?
Worst Song: It Was A Good Day

Teenager Of The Year was a really good alt rock album. I had no idea that this guy was part of the Pixies so when i saw that Black Francis (His other name) had 4 albums including the 3 Pixies albums and this one, i was confused. This definitely does sound different than any of Black's work with Pixies by nixing a lot of the grunge elements and making this into more of a regular alt rock album. I think that it is a really good alt rock album with heavy guitars, good vocals and a good pace to the songs. However, i don't understand why it's on this list seeing as it sounds like so many of it's contemporaries. That being said, i think this album still sounds very good and that deserves some stars.
Best Song: Two Reelers
Worst Song: The Hostess With The Mostest

MedúllaBjörk

Rated 2/10

Medulla is an album that shows just how badly one aspect can ruin an entire album. In this case, the mouth sounds, primarily Bjork's rough breathing. I can commend Bjork for trying something new with this album but the issue is it was not executed well at all. It's too bad too because if a lot of these sounds were removed, The album would have been fine. The ambient sounds were nice to listen to and Bjork's voice (when she wasn't doing her mouth sounds) was as good as ever. It honestly hurts to tank an album so much because of just one bad aspect but in this case, the bad aspect seriously drowns out all the good aspects and makes this album really unenjoyable to listen to.
Best Song: Who Is It (Carry My Joy on the Left, Carry My Pain on the Right)
Worst Song: Ancestors

Dig Your Own Hole is a banger and a half of an album. This album really makes me realize just how fitting The Chemical Brothers is as a name for this duo since these songs are just incredibly trippy. And in all the best ways too. These songs all have samples that are used in so trippy ways while still being immensely danceable and fun to listen to especially in the background while you are gaming or working. I will say that there are moments when the album gets a bit more noisy than it should and can easily turn away people who are not into that. However, i was not turned away and i was able to enjoy this album enough to give it a full 5 stars.
Best Song: Dig Your Own Hole
Worst Song: Setting Sun

AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted was a pretty decent hip-hop album. Ice Cube is apart of NWA so the beats, production and lyrical themes definitely seem to match that. The beats and production have that 80s old school hip-hop vibe to them and the lyrics primarily cover racism from the cops like the NWA album did. Key word being primarily because unfortunately, Ice Cube does rap about his dick sometimes and i seriously hate when rappers do that. However, the music is still pretty good and the lyrics even if they aren't the greatest, definitely feel pretty self-aware. This album was pretty solid and definitely far better than the Ice i got yesterday.
Best Song: Endangered Species (Tales From The Darkside)
Worst Song: It's A Man's World

My god, O.G. Original Gangster was so bad. It's a shame that it's as bad as it is because i remember liking a song by his band Body Count called Carnivore back in high school. Unfortunately, this album does not carry that same quality. The production is okay for the most part with some good moments but other than that, it's not worth talking about. However, what is worth talking about is the lyrics and just how much they suck. Almost all the lyrics on offer are just Ice stroking his ego and talking about how he gets bitches and all that. And don't get me started on the skits because one of them is literally just a woman further stroking his ego. This album represents so much of what i don't like about rap music. A guy just stroking his ego and saying how great he is just isn't enjoyable to listen to at all. Not even The Tower is able to save this from a 1
Best Song: The Tower
Worst Song: First Impression

Rid of MePJ Harvey

Rated 8/10

Rid Of Me was another really good entry in PJ Harvey's lineup. This one seems to take after Dry way more than any of the other PJ Harvey albums on the list as it has this very rough grunge sound that Dry also had. I really do like this sound mainly due to my love of grunge music in general with my only issues with this album being some parts of it's production and the fact that it did feel like it was dragging a little bit. Other than that though, i really can't think of anything else that this album does wrong, guitars have that rough sound i love, the vocals are great and the melodies are super enjoyable. This was a great album to say the least.
Best Song: Highway '61 Revisited
Worst Song: Man-Size
Side note: Last PJ Harvey album, meaning:
1. Dry
2. Rid Of Me
3. Let England Shake
4. Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea

Shalimar was certainly an interesting album. I have never seen the film that this soundtrack is from but from what i have read about it's plot, it seems like Bollywood Indiana Jones and the soundtrack definitely fits that quite well. These songs could sound quite different from each other with the intro sounding like some kind of James Bond theme then the album would have things like a song that feels like a dance number, a more romantic sounding song which isn't the main romance theme and the actual romance theme which sounds like something i'd hear out of a western film. Due to me not seeing the film, i don't have much context but i will give Dimery and his team of critics credit for picking something as interesting as this.
Best Song: Title Music
Worst Song: One Two Cha Cha Cha

I've got some really complex feelings about Devil Without A Cause. This album is in the top 3 lowest rated (In fact, it's the most hated album on the discord server) albums with so many haters. But what i will say is that i definitely feel like a lot of the people that hate are exaggerating a bit. Are the lyrics terrible? Yes. Is Kid Rock's persona stupid? Yes. Is it the worst metal album on the list so far? Again, Yes. But honestly, I just can't in good conscience fail it. The musicians did a lot of carrying here as the music for the most part is really good. Guitars are dense, the synths are cool and the melodies were absolutely there. It is far from the greatest album of all time but is nowhere near the shitshow that everyone is saying it is. The lyrics and persona are dumb but it is evident that Kid Rock knew what music would make people like me vibe to it. That's very admirable and that definitely deserves some stars.
Best Song: Bawitdaba
Worst Song: Black Chick White Guy

The La's wasn't the greatest album i have ever heard but it is still pretty solid. This album was probably one of the earliest britpop records out there with a lot of inspiration from a lot of 1960s British invasion bands (mainly The Beatles) which was very different from a lot of other bands that did this kind of stuff. The production of this album is definitely on the more basic end when it came to the production and that does feel intentional as like i said, it does take a lot of inspiration from 60s British invasion acts. The songs themselves sounded good and seemed to move at a quick pace which was nice. Not something that i would come rushing back to but it's still pretty good.
Best Song: I Can't Sleep
Worst Song: Son Of A Gun

AbraxasSantana

Rated 6/10

Abraxas was a really solid album. I haven't been too familiar with Santana's discography outside of Smooth and The Game Of Love and i do remember getting them mixed up with Sublime because their names were a bit similar to me. This album though, was a rather nice listen. It mainly hopped between two vibes back and forth throughout, one being this more relaxing and airy vibe and the other being a style with a lot more energy. I thought that both styles were executed quite well even if some of the songs kinda went in one ear and out the other. I still thought it was solid at being both background music and a serious listening experience.
Best Song: Hope You're Feeling Better
Worst Song: El Nicoya

Of the three Jimi Hendrix albums that i have heard, Are You Experienced is easily the best one of the bunch. I have vague memories of Foxey Lady but other than that, i don't have much recollection of the album but now that i have heard it, i can see why people love it so much. I feel like this album might be even more accessible than Axis: Bold As Love and that might make sense since this was Jimi Hendrix's first album and he did want to get people listening to his music. The guitars and melodies here were also just fantastic and were able to capture that blues rock vibe just right. There isn't really much else i can say so all i will say is that this album is great.
Best Song: Foxey Lady
Worst Song: Third Stone From The Sun
Side note: Last Jimi Hendrix album, which means:
1. Are You Experienced
2. Axis: Bold As Love
3. Electric Ladyland

Chicago Transit Authority was quite a nice surprise of an album. Chicago describes themselves as a rock and roll band with horns and that definitely is not wrong. This album is definitely jazz rock in the truest sense of the term and it is some really good jazz rock. The vibes were all completely there, the guitars, bass and trumpets were all great and it's one of those albums where the length of the songs didn't bother me that much but that could be because jazz is a genre that lends itself to longer songs much better than a lot of other genres. I will say that i could have done without Free Form Guitar considering that was just 6 minutes of Terry Kath messing around with his guitar but overall, this was a great album.
Best Song: Beginnings
Worst Song: Free Form Guitar

Hunky DoryDavid Bowie

Rated 10/10

It has been quite the long ride with David Bowie being 9 albums and Hunky Dory is a great way to close it off because it is an amazing album. This album is the earliest of the Bowie albums on the list and it shows as it has quite a bit of the stuff that would go on to influence a lot of his later albums. This album also has songs that are tributed to a lot of real people and i think that is really interesting and the songs absolutely do fit what they are going for. The music in general here is just really great as for Bowie's vocals. There really isn't anything i can complain about when it comes to this album so it's definitely one of Bowie's best works.
Best Song: Oh! You Pretty Things
Worst Song: Song for Bob Dylan
Side note: Last David Bowie album which means:
1. Low
2. The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars
3. Hunky Dory
4. Blackstar
5. Aladdin Sane
6. Young Americans
7. Heroes
8. Station To Station
9. The Next Day
