When it comes to vocals, you need to have either good lyrics or a good voice. My problem with metal is they often have neither and this album is no different. The music is fine, even good at times, but feels generic for the genre. I struggle to see the value in listening to this album over any other metal album.

Enjoyed this one. She's not the best singer but she doesn't have to be for this style of music.

I think I'd probably give this a 4.5 if I could, but I'll round up because Father And Son and Tea For The Tillerman are both songs I've loved for years. There's something so simple about Cat Steven's writing. He's a storyteller but he's much more concise than someone like Bob Dylan. But, just like Dylan, he's been heavily covered by a wide range of artists and it's not hard to see why. This is a joy to listen to.

Much better than Aftermath. Opener and closer are fantastic. Some decent songs in between but nothing special. Most of it sounds like covers despite only one actually being a cover. I find with The Rolling Stones that you could make several 5 star greatest hits albums, but you'd struggle to find an actual 5 star album in their discography.

Not really any stand out songs but it was a pleasant listening experience as a whole. The first song reminded me so much of Father and Son by Cat Stevens that I had to look it up and yep, Cat Stevens receives royalties from the song. I was going to give a 4 but the best song being basically a cover of a better song brings it down a bit. However, I think the rest of the album is pleasant enough to just about keep the 4.

Kinda falls off a bit towards the end but still a sufficient amount of bangers to warrant a 4

This is a fantastic album which is perhaps just a little too long. I don't believe any album needs to be over an hour. The album is split into 4 parts. Part 1 is good. Part 2 is hit and miss with Jungle being a highlight but a couple of songs could have been cut here. Part 3 is fantastic and is concluded with Mr. Blue Sky which is one of my favourite songs of all time. I did always wonder why the song sort of changes into something else for the last minute or so and now I realise it's because it's part of a larger concept. Part 4 starts with the second best song on the album, Sweet is the Night, but then goes into a 5 minute whale noise instrumental which feels like the music they play at the end of a musical when everyone is leaving. This is followed by Birmingham Blues which is good but sounds suspiciously like Rockin All Over the World (released a couple of years prior) to me. The album ends with Wild West Hero which is a good song but I don't think it works too well as the closer for an album with this scope. I think they could have moved Sweet is the Night to part 2 (cut Believe Me Now) and got rid of part 4 and it would have been both shorter and better overall as well as being able to end on Mr. Blue Sky which has a great outro.
Despite the criticisms, I find it hard not to give this album a 5. You can feel the passion and genius that went into it. The production is fantastic and it just sounds good.

It's not quite ear bleedingly bad but there's not really anything good here. Yesterday, I had the Pixies' Surfer Rosa which felt very similar to this but, fortunately, included Where is My Mind? which blows any song from Bubble and Scrape out of the water. The day before that, I had Eels' Beautiful Freak, so it's been a bit of a 90s indie/grunge week so far and Sebadoh is the worst of the bunch by far.

I was quite disappointed in this one. When I saw this was the album with 'Where is My Mind?', I was hoping for more of the same and I got my wish. However, I didn't realise that WIMM? is special in that, yes it's still just yelling into a mic that somehow feels both too far away and too close to the singer's mouth, and the lyrics are kinda nonsense, and it feels very thrown together, but it's thrown together in exactly the correct measurements to create something good and that's unfortunately not the case for almost every other song on the album which feels like a miss. I think 'Tony's Theme' and 'I'm Amazed' are the only other songs I kinda liked.
I'm tired of giving so many albums a 3 but that's all I can give it, and that's only because of just how good WIMM? is.

I was going to give this a 4 because it really surprised me. I've never been into grunge, but this was really good. I liked pretty much every song. I *was* going to give it a 4. That is until the last song. Now it may just be a cover, but any Futurama fans will recognise it as the song that plays at the end of the episode 'Game of Tones' when Fry is allowed to visit the dream of his mother who has been dead for a thousand years and Fry lacks any form of closure with. That scene absolutely destroys me every time and I felt it all flood back listening to it again. 5/5 would cry to grunge again.

This is a very OK album. Was kinda boring but I quite like the last song. Good length too. Always appreciate when an artist understands how boring they are and don't make you listen for long.
