Somehow I've heard this whole album before...or maybe it's that it has a motif. Either way I wasn't an enormous fan despite my love of new romantic stuff. This just felt a bit repetitive and twee.

I always thought of Alice Cooper as the dark, chews the head off of face bats fella. This was a lot more glammy than I was expecting. I won't say it was bad per se but I didn't find myself moved by it in a meaningful way.

Pretty raw recording. I do dislike that on its face and I do like outsider music but this droned on on spots. Pretty similar to pere ubu in some ways. I didn't hate it but I likely won't engage with it again.

This was a really great album with only a few draggy tracks which, for a snarky techno album, is saying something. It was clever and well-produced. I'll definitely listen to it again.

I'm not a folk person but some of the traditional ballads are compelling micro stories and my attention certainly perked up.

Alternative songs were often said to be sung in the key of "AR" as a method of describing the swallowed and growly approach to vocalizing some bands took at the time (STP, AIC, et al.).

I don't know what key Kings of Leon sing in but it runs me wrong somehow? Too arch?

My brother is a huge fan of Wilco and this album in general. It's an album that has some real high spots but some parts of it are kind of bland by comparison. Not bad just not as memorable as the peaks.
