The wheels fall off this after the first track. And honestly, even the first track is now pretty cringe even if I really liked it as a kid. Sorry Dad

The first song, The Humpty Dance, is supposed to be the highlight of this album. It's not great and it's six and a half minutes. Ouf... this is just soooo dated. There's no flow, every song is just too long. And each progressive song is worse than the last.

Wasn't familiar with this. The steel guitar is great. Don't know how often I would come back to this but I appreciate now having familiarity with it.

First time listening to this. The first song, You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side, has a kinda cool surf rock vibe. It really wasn't what I was expecting. The second song, Glamorous Glue, has a fun, almost bluesy beat. So far, this is going better than I thought it would. I had some preconceived notions about Morrissey and it's a pleasant surprise to have that challenged. I even found myself unconsciously tapping my fingers along to a few songs. In the end, it gets 3 stars because I know who he is, I suspect he kinda hates women, I know he hates sex and all this while serving up his body on the cover of the album.

The conga drumming is kinda cool but this is not my vibe. I always feel bad when I rate 'world' music because I know I don't have the cultural knowledge to actually or fully appreciate it.

That opening track, Speed King, took me by surprise. It goes harder than I would have expected for 1970. I can see the through line from this to Motörhead. Liked this overall, made me realize there's more to Deep Purple than Machine Head

Parts of this album feel just a little too experimental for my tastes. King Kunta is great, as These Walls and Alright. The rest of the album though, I just don't fuck with.

My grandmother, whose first language was English, pronounced Chicago as Chircargo. And Tylenol was Thylenol.

My father had one or more Chicago albums of the 70s, of which there are 10, plus 2 lives albums and a best of. I couldn't fathom a guess which one(s) he had because the covers mostly all look the same.

This was fine but I can't see me returning to it. It's of a time and place I just can't access. 2.5 stars rounded up

I've never of Sparks but apparently they've been going strong since 1968? Wild. OK, so this album is weird. It doesn't sound like 1974, there's a polish to the recording that I wasn't expecting. I find there's a sameyness to all of the songs.

The first song Sea Song was almost enough to push me over the edge and not proceed any further. It was interesting but not quite for me.

Why on god's green earth is this the SECOND album by this artist on this list. I don't think he deserved to be on this list once, let alone twice. This is marginally better than the Divine Comedy but that ain't saying much.

I'm not the biggest FM fan but this was pretty good. Not sure how often I would personally spin it but I get it.

It's wild that this is from 1981. I love the line from this through to 90s industrial, which I actually love. It's a little too discordant for me to want to put on regularly but I respect the artistry

This is far from my favourite album by them. I find it to be just a bit too noisy and discordant for me to fully enjoy putting on regularly. I guess they're aiming for those sounds and they're doing that well. It's desolate feeling at times and I guess that's the point.
