Rated 10/10

I recognize a few of these tracks by title, but otherwise have never sat down to listen to this album start-to-finish.

This is solid. I'm adding it to my list of albums to listen to again.

YES

I can't remember for certain, but might be the first CD I bought myself. If that's not the case, it's definitely one of the first CDs I bought myself.

I don't think I recognize this artist, album or any tracks by name. Though seeing Mark E. Smith and Lisa Stansfield as guest vocalists on this, and combined with the fact that this seems not to be readily available on streaming platforms, it all feels like a bad omen.

Almost immediately, my suspicions were confirmed. Sorry, this just isn't my thing.

It's been a long time since I listened to this album.

As a guitar album, this is a high-water mark for the instrument. Dime is just showing off and making so many other guitarists look silly. (And Vinnie and Rex are similarly putting down excellent work.) However, since the album came out, Phil Anselmo has proven himself to be kind of inexcusable. I also love Phil's singing on this album, but I can't reconcile the person with the musician. So, this is a complicated rating I'm going to have to give this album. Musically, I love this album, but I don't want my rating of this to be construed as endorsement of Phil Anselmo as a person.

RIP Dime.

I'm not sure I've listened to this as an album, but I'm pretty sure I know all of these songs.

Separating the art from the artist, this is really good.

I recognize a few of these tracks by name, but otherwise have never listened to this album start-to-finish.

My early memories of James Taylor are of hearing him on classic rock radio in the late 80s and early 90s. At that time and at that age, I didn't really like his music that much. I feel I've grown to appreciate it more now. Maybe in another 30 years James Taylor could become one of my favorite artists? Who knows? I enjoyed this more than I expected I would.

I recognize a bunch of these tracks by title, but I've never listened to this album start-to-finish. Notably, I'm listening to the "Expanded Edition" which is about 55 minutes.

Yeah, it's hard to deny this collection of songs. So many classics.

Rated 6/10

I'm well aware of this album, and know a few of the tracks. I don't really enjoy the tracks I do know. Otherwise, I've never listened to this album start-to-finish.

Here's the thing... Jeff Buckley is obviously an incredibly gifted singer. But sometimes when you reach a certain skill level as a musician, you attempt these insanely difficult things, and it's admirable on that level, but that doesn't necessarily mean it sounds good. Every time I think that a given song is going along just fine, he attempts one of those nearly impossible feats that just doesn't sound good. This album would be much better if Jeff Buckley held back a little more.

I'm really only aware of the title track, and otherwise this is my first time listening to this album start-to-finish.

This is just kind of psychedelic meh. It seems a bit self-indulgent most of the time.

I don't think I recognize this artist, and none of the tracks on this album are ringing a bell either. So I'm going into this completely blind.

Okay, so it's nearly impossible to rate this album. Musically, it doesn't make sense why this album would be included on this list. It's just not good. But as far as the backstory for this album goes, yeah, sure, it's interesting and kudos to Robert Wyatt for persevering through his circumstances to create this album. But the name of the list is "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die." Maybe knowing about the backstory of this album is more important than actually listening to the album.

I've never listened to this album start-to-finish before. I'm listening to the 1995 edition which clocks in at about 77 minutes.

I'm not against live albums, but my question is more like: Why _this_ live album? What is so special about this album that justifies it being on this list? It's not bad, but The Who performing this set of songs is just not terribly interesting.

I'm vaguely aware of this artist, but I don't think I recognize any of the tracks on this album by title. This is my first time listening to this album start-to-finish.

At times, this reminds me a bit of Joni Mitchell. Unfortunately, Joni's just not really my thing, and I'm feeling the same about this album. It's not bad, but I find myself wondering why this is on the list.

I recognize a few of these tracks by title, but otherwise have never listened to this album start-to-finish.

I think I enjoyed the non-singles more than the big hits. Though they all tend toward feeling longer than they are. I'm not a huge fan of disco. With that in mind, this is good, but not great. Though I'm not feeling compelled to listen to this again. It gets extra points for the bass work. Though it also loses points for the purely repetitive lyrics across all the songs.

I recognize a bunch of these tracks by name, but have never listened to this album start-to-finish.

This was alright. I'm not a huge CCR fan, but this felt a bit like it covers quite a bit of their Greatest Hits. "Ramble Tamble" and "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" were a bit too long for their own good (which is kind of a shame for the latter track). It's good but not great, and I'm happy I listened to it, but I don't think it rises to the level of adding it to my list of albums to listen to again.

There's one original that was the mega-hit from this album, and I recognize a couple cover songs by name, but otherwise, I've never listened to this album start-to-finish.

This was mostly what I expected given what I knew of the mega-hit "Relax." In general, I'm not a huge fan of 80s stuff, and this is pretty heavily steeped in the 80s. I didn't really enjoy this. I'm a big fan of the original version of "Born to Run" and this group should not have attempted to cover it. I'm deducting points for it.

I am leaving the Pleasuredome and will never come back.

I recognize a few of these tracks by name, but have never listened to this album start-to-finish.

I enjoyed the beats more consistently than the lyrics. Overall, it's okay, but not terribly special.

I don't think I recognize any of these tracks by title. This is the first time I'm listening to this album start-to-finish.

I ended up recognizing a few of these tracks. I feel like this album starts a little slow and improves over its duration. It's not great, but good. I'm not sure it's something I feel compelled to listen to again though.

I recognize a few of these tracks by title, but have never listened to this album start-to-finish.

Yeah, this was alright. I'm not over the moon about it, but it's not bad. Maybe a step above "Meh" but not something I feel compelled to listen to again.

I feel like I've heard about this album before, and maybe I recognize some of the tracks by title, but I've never listened to this album start-to-finish before. I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

So, upon listening, I don't think I actually recognized any of the songs. Still this is a great album, and I'll be adding it to my list of albums to listen to again.
