Fecking hell, another hour of monotone 60s folk music.

This one really didn’t do it for me. Don’t like the vocals. I usually appreciate bands that use the accordion, but this whole cacophony/whining background doesn’t do it for me. It picks up towards the end when they stop the spoken word stuff so I will round up, but personally it’s
1.5 stars from me.

Something’s holding me back from giving this the full five stars, but it was a very enjoyable listen. Just missing a bit of magic.

Metal is not my favorite. But this was not as harsh as some metal. 2.5
Despite listening to this album several times today, it just isn’t making any lasting impression on me. It’s fine, I can’t point to anything I dislike about it. It just doesn’t stand out in any way.

Based on their American hits I was ready for a half hour of melodic soft rock. Instead I get the musical equivalent of Monty Python. I really don’t enjoy Monty Python. Very disappointing!

Hahaha this is the thrash garage punk album I never expected to enjoy! The lyrics are sophomoric and barely make sense at times. But the energy level never drops. It’s just stupid fun. The album should be a bit shorter, as it certainly sticks to one style throughout, but I can’t deny that it’s a bop.

Organ-based psychedelic rock sound. Kinda cool but definitely sounds dated now.
Rated 8/10
I was only half enjoying this one until I realized I needed to imagine that I was dancing to it out on a sunny beach deck. Instantly gained a star!
Rated 6/10
Old-school seventies social commentary jazz/funk. Personally I wanted a bit more energy to it.
Just the kind of cool interesting music I hoped I would find! ✅
Rated 4/10
I actually sent the song “If” to my children, because 790 albums in, this was the oddest song I’ve ever heard.
I.5 stars for this album overall. The lyrics are weird enough that I probably will give it 2, but musically not enjoyable.

There’s no denying she has a very clear lovely voice. I personally don’t care for pretty, high-register folk music, so this album is not for me. I did however really like the one country honky-tonk song that snuck in!

There’s so much pedestrian below average guitar rock in here before you get to the two hits. Let’s face it, this band got very lucky with I Want You to Want Me. They fully drserve to be in a “SONGS you should hear before you die”list. But this album was a bit of a slog otherwise. 2.5 stars

Advisory label: listening to this album will almost definitely leave you buck-balled naked.
So thankful we had D’Angelo on this planet making his heavenly music. RIP
Rated 6/10
Standard 4/4 Rock. Destined to be the Dad Rock of the future, which I suppose is now. Inoffensive classic three star album.
Rated 8/10
This was actually a very interesting listen!
Second brand new discovery this week for which I am grateful. It’s not a genre that usually appeals to me, but I may come back to this one. 3.5 stars, not sure I can bring it up to 4 but may listen to it again later today to decide. On second thought these guys created something super original. 4 It is

This is one of those albums that it clearly took a great deal of talent, skill and creativity to make. I just didn’t enjoy it. I always feel badly about giving a low rating to this kind of album. Apologies to most jazz and prog rock musicians. I just don’t vibe with you. Respect though! 2.5 for this one but I will probably round down. Genesis has enough fans to not worry about my score.

This was a cool new discovery! Exactly why I signed up. It’s a shame this is not available on Spotify. I had to listen to it on YouTube and there were ads in between the tracks. Although maybe that interruption prevented me from thinking the suns were all too similar. At first the singing, with out of sync and some times out of tune harmonies was a bit off putting. But soon the mood of the album and the lyrics pulled me in. Very atmospheric, gloomy in a good way. I’m happy to know this one.

I’m kinda conflicted on this one. The rhythms are good, my toe was tapping, but the sitar kinda sounds like a whiny cat, ya know?
I think I would normally give it a 2.5, gotta decide which way to round. Likely up, to repent for my cultural bias.
