Working Class Hero is a good song.

A lot of this (“Love”, for example) feels like it is trying hard to be deep. I suppose these are his real feelings, so fine. But I don’t really feel much interested in either his sappy sentiments about Yoko, or his mommy issues. I would like to never hear Well Well Well again.
Mostly meh.

OK so this genre is apparently “space rock”. I kinda liked it at first but wow this album is long. Which I guess makes sense because it’s a live concert album, but the music is all very similar. I think if I was in an altered mental state I might tolerate it much better. Not a big fan of the spoken word tracks. The drumming is great at times. Can’t really fault the musicianship. Had never heard of this band at all so kind of glad to know about them even if it’s outside what I choose to listen to usually. It’s not hard to believe there are people who really love this album. I think it reaches its goal of feeling spacey.
Tl:dr Don’t love it, but respect it.

It’s not my kind of music, so maybe I just don’t get it. But I don’t think the singer’s voice is great. And I expect metal guitarists to be able to shred. They seem to think that putting a few seconds of loud noise in their songs will make them seem tough, and distract from their shortcomings.

This is a vibe. Mostly instrumental. When there are vocals the lyrics don’t add much. Sounds like the soundtrack to an R rated movie. I Stole Your Car is the highlight for me. Love the dub step feel. Could have done without the explicit verse on “The Rough and The Quick”. Warning: unless you want to answer some pretty specific questions, don’t play that one in the car with your kids!

The guy knows how to create a mood but sometimes throws in too much and creates a cacophony that is not pleasing. Interesting, but not one I’ll return to.

PumpAerosmith

Rated 8/10

I always want to like Aerosmith a little bit more than I truly do. This album starts off slow for me but I like the second half. 3.5 stars, will likely round up because I like it more than I don’t.

I know people love this guy’s voice. I’ve just never felt the attraction. Meh. And damn the pacing is slow! This isn’t a Sinatra album I would have chosen for this list.

They actually aren’t my new favorite band. I often like high energy music but this is the same rat-a-rat with no subtlety for alot of the album. And the lyrics aren’t interesting enough to make up for the lack of musical variety. They don’t sound angry. It’s just speed for speed’s sake. The first song, their single, is fun but if quickly got monotonous after that one.

Dramatic- feels like there Broadway version of pop music. Fans of Queen (which I’m not) will probably love this. Interesting stuff, I feel like I “should” like it, but after a few listens I just don’t. The constant falsetto grates on me, for one thing. But it’s certainly not boring. This is a rare album where I will likely give it three stars but it doesn’t mean “meh”, like most of my three stars. I just can’t get myself to like it enough to give it four.

I’ll often rate jazz albums two stars because I respect it even though I don’t really enjoy it much. But this was just too unpleasant. Another reviewer used the word cacophany. And that’s perfect.

This album is so fun! Some of the music sounds like it’s from the 1990s not the 60s. A mix of punk, rockabilly, folk and psychedelia all in easily suggested bite-sized morsels. I’m so mad the whole thing didn’t seem to be on Spotify- had to listen on YouTube and put up with ads. Would consider looking for this on vinyl so I can listen properly. It’s probably 4 stars enjoyment wise but I may give them all five for being so far ahead of their time music wise. One album and done for them, but what a contribution! Great discovery!

Well! I was absolutely not expecting a band called Primal Scream to produce such an enjoyable melodic album! This was a pleasure to listen to l, never boring, stylistically varied and even 800+ albums in, this was one of my favorite surprises. I’m a fan.

I think I’m being generous giving this three stars. It made pretty much zero impression. Very meh. But if I paid closer attention, it probably would bug me a little more. The guy’s voice is not pleasant. So true grade likely would be closer to 2.5.
