Instrumentally there’s some cool stuff but I don’t care for the songs. They’re all slow and kind of monotonous.

I like a band with a sense of humor. This album isn’t amazing but it’s not terrible. I also like that they said goodbye at the end of the album, I thought that was nice.

When it started I thought it was gonna be an album of singer songwriter ballads. Boy was I wrong, this is a wonderfully weird album that I will definitely be checking out again.

First of all how do you dance to this!? Now that that’s out of the way, this album was a mixed bag for me. I really enjoyed some songs, like vibraphonissimo. Other songs were dull and meandering. It was interesting to hear an album that put two almost unheard in modern music instruments at the forefront. Most people don’t associate the vibraphone with virtuoso musicians, it’s an instrument normally relegated to novelty songs or to portray a skeleton playing its own ribcage in cartoons. But at one point it was an instrument that was taken seriously. I thought that was interesting.

Wow this album blew me away. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I didn’t expect this adventurous, ambitious, and wonderful album. This thing has so many unique sounds but somehow manages to stay cohesive at the same time. I don’t even know what the concept is about yet, I’m sure that will just add another layer to its brilliance. I look forward to diving deeper into this one. It will probably be a 5, but for now it’s a high 4 for me.

I can appreciate that these guys were pioneers in edm, but that doesn’t mean I have to like them.

Ok this is enough, I think this is the 4th Neil young album I’ve had to listen to. Neil Young is a greatest hits guy at best. He has some great songs, songs I really like, none of them are on this album. I thought it was hard to get through a regular Neil Young album, but this genre hopping mess was a true challenge. There’s not much redeeming on here.

I know why this is on the list, I understand its importance, I also understand why most people (myself included) don’t enjoy it. However, you can’t ignore how influential this album is. Try to tell me that the beginning of Girl doesn’t sound exactly like an LCD Soundsystem song.

Sometimes you can totally judge a book (or album) by its cover. I saw this cover and thought wow this is gonna be a steaming pile of dogshit and I was not wrong. This was one of the least enjoyable albums I’ve ever had the displeasure of having to listen to. Who thought this was a good idea?

Second album from this band, I liked Casanova, this one not so much. Every song felt like it lasted forever, and they were so boring. There were a lot of instruments, horns, strings, etc. but they somehow didn’t make the album any less dull.

This would be a 4 if it ended at Kiss me on the neck or 2000 AD, but it kept going. Up to that point it was so cohesive, with suites of songs blending into each other. Then 2000 AD changed it up but it could’ve been a nice closer. After that it felt like filler that got tacked on to a perfectly good album.
