This dude was from the band 13th Floor Elevators (they had an album on the original 1001 list) before breaking off on his own. 13th Floor Elevators were credited with being one of the first psychadelic rock bands ever. He continues with that theme here, leaning more into the psychadelic/horror rock lane. A good album to listen to around Halloween ironically. This is some real good shit! It's like early Alice Cooper or less spacey Hawkwind. I really like it!
In the song Stand for the Fire Demon, Roky Erickson gives me kinda a Dio vibe as well to some degree.
Holy shit this entire album is fucking amazing. I love discovering stuff like this that would have passed me by unnoticed. Thank you to whoever recommended it!

This is so weird. Like every song is a different genre, and sounds like a completely different band.....I've never seen anything like that before.....Everything from alt country to rock to psychadelic to indie to pop......it's odd. I hated it at first because there is no cohesion, but once I understood what they were doing I had a second listen, and it hit better.

Why did they decide to record the vocals in another room? I just really don't understand this modern Scottish music.....it just doesn't translate on this side of the pond....
Admittedly upon second playthrough it started to make a bit more sense.

Ever wondered what a porpoise sounds like when getting fucked? This may be the album for you.....
Whoever recommended this album wanted to inflict maximum damage....and succeeded. This is complete garbage. To quote Billy Madison: "I award you no points....and may God have mercy on your soul"

1)Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking for a Hand in the Snow).....the intro.....fuck!!?!
2) Hirake......ahhh yes, the song that features the sounds of a dolphin actively giving a blowjob
3) Fly.........a 23 minute tutorial on how to sound like a clicker from The Last of Us.....or perhaps how to hold a sneeze for 23 minutes.....
I am going to play the song Fly at my next Goose Hunt to lure in some Geese. Should work great!!
1/5 because I have to......0/5 if I could

Reminds me of my college roommate. He loved these dudes! This album definately deserves to be on the official 1001 list. This stoner ska punk sound was huge in the 90's.

Prog folk/psychadelic folk from the 70s. It's like they took folk music of the Pentangle/Fairport Convention style and crossed it with King Crimson. And then took it to a very dark place.

Absolutely leaps and bounds ahead of the other album of theirs I listened to (Romance). It's almost like it's 2 different bands....this is a high energy rocker, the other was boring drivel. I can get behind this album for sure! Definately back loaded. The first four songs were mid at best, but the rest of the album was super solid!

I think I'd have dropped one of The Who's lesser albums like "The Who Sell Out" and replaced it with this album on the official 1001 list. This album is fantastic. Completely missed somehow by me until today. Of The Who's rock operas, this one is better than the rest as far as I'm concerned. Great addition!! Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Glad to have discovered it!
