There's a contest between this and Ram for greatest post-Beatles album in my heart but let's just say only one album has It's Johnny's Birthday.

Foundational. Too bad everyone with piercings is busy listening to Fall Out Boy instead.

Favorite track(s): just the part where he said "Latino lover mode"
The worst album so far in this list's continued obsession with the death rattles of rock. How great that I'm as far away from the release of this album as this band is from the death of the glam metal they tried to replicate to astoundingly bad results.

I'll respect it for pushing my boundaries. I'm not big on musical theater/cabaret to begin with, but it's made somewhat awkward on top by the translations. A few glimpses of interesting arrangement. Overall, pretty bizarre. I'll take my Dagmar with Henry Cow or Slapp Happy instead.

The riffs, the grooves, the lyrics and themes. It's all here. One of THE punk albums.

Favorite track(s): the desire to save good ol' rock-n-roll has crossed the Pond. The results are musically the same but lyrically worse.

Favorite track(s): an hour and a half of flavorless songwriting, derivative or outright bad vocals, and off-meter lyrics about how us Yankees don't understand Lynyrd Skynyrd or "the Southern Thing™". I couldn't wait long enough for the next exit off Highway 72.

This is what happens when you get two of history's most quirked up white boys in the studio together.

Of the best tracks, one required an extra songwriter on top of the other two. The other is a cover. I think that says a lot.
