Has never been my favourite Bruce but deserves its legendary status.

Rated 6/10

Maybe Springsteen is an American taste, maybe he's been there for so long that everybody already listens to his music and accept it as the work of a great musician but outside of the US he has never been so present as other musicians like Bob Dylan that I sense he is perceived in a similar manner. The lyrics are good, better than average at moments, others they are really simple. The musicians are good and know when to be present and when yo step back and realize that the act is Bruce Springsteen. Yet, the sum of those parts don't seem to give a great album.

Favourite songs: Born in the USA, Downbound train, the kind of creepy I'm on fire

Bruce Springsteen....I respect him a hell of a lot. And this album is generally very good! A little repetitive at times, maybe, but Dancing In The Dark, Darlington County, and Bobby Jean were really, really good. A nice way to start my morning overall. Will likely listen again.

I'm sorry but this album didn't do much to me. Yes the tube are great and it's good old fashion rock but I was not moved.

Favorite Songs: Born in the U.S.A. ;

There are more Bruce albums (on this list) than I expected. But this is probably his most famous one, right? We actually have a lot in common, because I too was born in the USA. Unfortunately, you wouldn't even believe the number of bad things that happened to me today (it's at least as many as there were Bruce albums), so the album is being perceived thru a lens of exhausted devastation. I don't know if that's helping it or hurting it, but it's getting a 4. Much better to me than "Nebraska" even though a lot of these were from the Nebraska sessions apparently...

Highlights: 'I'm on Fire', 'Dancing in the Dark'

Note to self: listen to this next summer when you're driving somewhere

Rated 8/10

Iconic start, somewhat lower middle, but very strong finish

Rated 8/10

Classic. Bruce is, for some reason, a love him or hate him artist. I guess I just dig his stuff.

Rated 8/10

World’s loudest snare drum.
Yes it’s cheesy, but it’s so well meaning and catchy that you can’t really hate it.

Rated 8/10

Es un discazo evidentemente. Me ha gustado mucho, suena antiguo pero no viejo.

Rated 6/10

3. Yeah. Max 3. No more. Okay. I am so tired.

Rated 8/10

This had a lot more of a southern/country flair to it than I expected it to. Surprised I don't see anyone else mentioning that. Am I crazy?

Anyway, I really dig this. 4.5/5

Hell yea

This is probably what being American feels like

YES

My only real complaint about this album is that the synths and production really date this album to 1984. I wish it had more of a timeless sound to fit the songs a little better. Otherwise, no notes.

Rated 10/10

The sound of my childhood (and teens and twenties and thirties and forties and...)

Rated 3/10

I wish he'd stop referring to every woman in the album as little girl. Dancer in the Darkn is good and thats about it really.

Rated 6/10

Got this on the semi-quincentennial. Gets extra points for confusing conservatives for 40+ years.

Rated 6/10

Good songs. You really picture the characters and situations. Shit recording. Bruce must have been so jealous that the Attractions worked with Costello
