Really liked the vibe but gets quite samey production wise after a while. Would prefer to hear these during a goth night mixed in with other creepy classics rather than a whole album

Wasn’t enjoying this to start with but just about won me over in the end. She’s got a hell of a voice!

As many have said here, this starts to lose its way big time after To The End - although it ends brilliantly on This is a Low. But when it is good, it’s sensational.

People dunno what they’re talking about calling this boring. Doves were my first concert!
I dunno if this is their best, but I admire the atmosphere that’s created with the interlude tracks, with a lot of bangers along the way.

I think everyone ragging on this doesn’t remember how pedestrian and soulless mainstream pop was in this era and how this felt like a total breath of fresh air. Well, this and all the others in the down tempo, post-Lorde oeuvre. Second half of this is better than the first half tho.

Hmmmm prog jazz! I wish they’d done more like the live song with the djembe drums. That one was great!
Good, but can’t see myself returning to this soon

‘Why Does It Always Rain on Me’ was the first song I remember singing when I was really young. Also my parents really liked Travis so maybe I’m a tad biased. But Fran Healy is a great songwriter and this album is very good.

Hilarious that John Cale left and they immediately went ‘let’s go MAINSTREAM’. Not a bad thing tho, some of VU’s best songs here. And The Murder Mystery might be seen as a failed experiment to the band, but I really like it.

Pretty and there’s some decent songs but I would need a bit more energy to properly enjoy this, Pyramids is a real stand out because of its change of pace.

As a Brit, I am required by law to give this 5 stars otherwise a gang of middle-aged dads and 17 year olds in bucket hats swigging Dark Fruits will kill me in my sleep. It’s a great album too!

I understand why the disco songs were long, and it actually is massively important to the birth of Hip-Hop, but as a listening experience I dunno if you need 8 mins of Good Times. But it would be churlish to say this album isn’t just a load of fun. Liked the slower moments too.
