The Good: These melodies should always hit their mark!
The Bad: Even lazer guided melodies go off course...
The Ugly: Not feeling baptized after the experience...
This started off by me attentively paying attention through song 1... still curious during song 2, while wondering if this was going to end soon by song 3 or 4... and I can't recall which song it was because... you guessed it; they all started to sound alike.
I guess that is the wonder about having to listen to songs that only were important in one small area of the globe, whilest us other-wordly people were sitting back hoping for something extra-ordinary.
Also, there was this person, back in 1992, who was breaking all the sales records... he's not included in this list, to my knowledge... where's Garth Brooks?
Anyway, we are here to rate this album...
For me, 1992 had nothing to do with this album... I enjoyed the listen, for a while, but now I am ready to pass page and head into other sonic adventures...
2 1/2 which I will upgrade to 3*

I'm not sure there's enough pyschadelics that I could take where I would be in a good spot to enjoy this album. It's not that the music isn't good - don't get me wrong it isn't - it's that it isn't thought provoking or enjoyable in any way, shape or form. Most of the tracks sound like they would be looped on a DVD menu screen that just plays while its waiting for you to make a selection. I would like to meet the person who likes this album so that I could pick their drug addled brain to see what makes them tick, but I assume I will find some fungus controlling their brain. 1 star

This does indeed sound like very dreamy, spacey pop-rock music. Additionally, I would describe the music as strange and ethereal. The songs all seemed to have the same aura running through them, and they never really went anywhere exciting.
Rated 4/10
Well they sure are fantastic at taking interesting musical ideas and really dragging them out until they become a seemingly never-ending slog to get to the end of for any given song and then the album itself just seems to drag on and on and on until it finally ends and if you haven't fallen asleep from total boredom you just find yourself relieved that it's over.

I didn't hate it but it largely passed me by entirely. Which could well be the point of course. Just................. hard to find any words beyond "fine".

It's like ehhhhh, but also like ooooooo

if "ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space" is the hypersocial let's-laugh-at-everything stoned, this one is im-trying-to-watch-futurama-alone-but-i-cant-keep-my-eyes-opened stoned. a sort of forced relaxation that's kinda pleasant but not exactly what you wanted out of the experience. 3.5

"Slide through the back door with your life strings attached (I can see the heavens on my back)"
I enjoy dream-pop and atmospheric albums with dreamy guitars and space to take in the tracks. although its also important for me to have a melody to follow throughout the track, and some sort of pattern to cling onto. "Run" fit this bill had a nice melodic loop that was almost hypnotizing, nailing exactly what I look for in a track of this genre, and will be added to the album.
At it's best, the album can almost encapsulate a mix of the stone roses, dreampop, and the velvet underground. Although the slower ambient tracks like "Symphony Space," while 'cool' and contributed to the vibe and ambience of the album, overstayed their welcome and detracted from the overall experience.
By the end of the album I wasn't left wanting more, nor was I disappointed in having listened to it.

This was a very nice discovery. I'm happy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are little woobly lava lamp people.
The album is also full of woobly lava lamp music. To me, it is sadly mid. Would be better with less vocals, maybe. The 2nd half is better than the first half.
Highlights: 'Sway', '200 Bars'

It feels like drugs that I'm coming down from after a great night. A bit sluggish but definitely super cool at times. 2.75 stars rounded up

I've come to adore Spiritualized and their adjacent projects in recent years (essentially anything featuring Jason Pierce in some capacity). This perhaps isn't quite my favourite of Spiritualized's studio albums, but it's still a herculean achievement in experimental rock. It marks a distinct, ambitious shift from the more aggressive works of Spacemen 3 into something truly expansive and profoundly hypnotic, where this is meant to be heard as more of a multi-part symphonic piece than as an album in the traditional sense.
Jason Pierce's talents are the MVP here, where he combines minimalist drones, gospel-tinged harmonies and classical instrumentation such as horns, autoharps and luscious strings to craft such a weightless atmosphere. This doesn't rely on sheer volume or distortion to overwhelm you, rather, it crushes you with its delicate textures, relentless motorik repetition and slow building intensity, whilst it also carries emotional intensity through its drug-hazed melancholic undertones. This feels indebted to Krautrock in many ways, which I think is precisely why it ticks so many boxes for me, but it's far less optimistic in tone and much deeper reaching in a personal sense.
An absolute classic. Five stars without a shadow of a doubt

I really enjoyed Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, so I was looking forward to seeing what I made of Lazer Guided Melodies today. First of all, what a pair of album titles!
Musically, this album is completely out of this world. It's spacey, beautiful and full of rich, atmospheric soundscapes that slowly draw you in. The vocals are soft and understated, perfectly matching the dreamy pace of the music, and the whole album has a calmness that makes it incredibly easy to get lost in.
What I like most about Spiritualized is that they have a sound unlike anyone else. Their music feels as though it exists in its own universe, creating an atmosphere that's peaceful, hypnotic and completely absorbing. This isn't an album that's packed with big hooks or obvious singles. Instead, it's one you immerse yourself in and let wash over you, discovering new details with every listen.
I don't think it's quite as strong as Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, but it's still a thoroughly enjoyable album and another reminder of just how unique Spiritualized are.
Favourite tracks: "Run" and "I Want You" are both excellent tracks and the highlights of the album for me.
Least favourite tracks: I found some of the slower songs, particularly "Take Your Time", a little harder to stay engaged with.
Album artwork: I love the album cover. It perfectly matches the dreamy, otherworldly feel of the music.

Liked this a little better than Ladies and Gentleman. Seemed more cohesive and less pretentious than that later release. That being said, it's still something that bores me.

Očekivala sam nešto baš specifično i da mi se nikako ne dopadne. Samo me nije posebno oduševilo, a inače je ova ocjena koju dajem baš čvrsta trica.
