The energy on this is palpable. Killer drum solo on The Mule. This is a great jam out record. Space Truckin' is out there. As someone who doesn't go much for jam or blues, this record really hit the spot.

what in the heck? the second song is pretty atonal, and the vocalist is not about able to sing very well. What in the hell is this? This guy's vocal tone makes me want to puke. Blues In Bob Minor is solid surprisingly. I hated this.

YESSSSSSSSSS. Your's Is No Disgrace is sort of a place to start for listening to the whole band as a total. dynamics, central theme, wonky key shifts, it has it all. Starship Trooper is also stellar. I've Seen All Good People part A is so uplifting, and transitions into this goofy boogie woogie back beat. Perpetual Change and the two standalones aren't of the same weight but still have that damn growling barking bass tone so this is a dinger of an album for me.

Its pretty cool! Again that song Working Class Hero comes up. Why'd You Do It is a great tune.

a real bluesy southern rock record. La Garange hits with the force of a trailer truck.
Rated 8/10
dude what is this? The rap is pretty bad but the music itself is wild. It's almost like listening to lyrics from a sound cloud rapper mashed up with a totally disassociated band. Compels me though.

Cranes In The Sky kills. Damn, Lil Wayne with the introspective bars! and Solange has this effortless upper register. The harmony work is great. Junie is funky and fun. Don't Wish Me Well is moving. What a fine album.

The sampling on this record is the most expiramental I have heard to date, while still being in service to a hip hop beat. Its an out there record, and the lyrical themes are a little hard for me to grab, but i am also quite distracted by work this morning, so probably worth a revisit.
This is a really different John. It feels very emotionally raw, with lyrics that are so jagged. It's also a weird lumpy effort. Too high concept for me this morning.

Broadly, I like Neil's work with Crazy Horse better than his solo stuff, though I am not enchanted with the toanl qualities of his music, so its hard to appreciate his mastery of songwriting. I think I am at piece with accepting his influence in artists that I like and not being totally into his work. I suppose of all the albums of his that I have heard so far, I like this one the best.

This is a very silly album. Gangbang is a very silly song. Giggy Up A Ding Dong features a keys solo that sounds like a child's keyboard. This record is like if you took an ACDC record, slammed it into a Sabbath record, and then made it listen to a Queen record or two. It is a really weird listen. The stereo fuckery at the end is poorly done.
Rated 6/10
There is a lot of technical meat on these songs, even if they sound ultimately quite dated. The fake track at the end is kind of a pain in the neck.
Oh Bob. His lyrics are pretty comprehensibile on this record so I get to have the full Bob experience. I guess I can see how someone can get swept up in his lyrics, but his vocal delivery is just not my thing. Desolation Row being goddamn 11 minutes long is a workout. and a whole 95 minutes of uncut Bob is a lot to take. I don't like how his songs feel without dynamic structure. Everything feels so..... uniform? It feels like all his songs are the same chord loop, alternate A and B style lyrics, harmonica solo, repeat for however long it takes Bob to read you The Grapes Of Wrath, and then do it all over again. The second side has more promise with an actual band with him. Nah, its more of the same with a blues band. god im not going back to this one.

This album is off to a strong ass start. Sonically, this is strong showing of tight dynamics, great tone blending, and overall sonic texture. This is a high watermark of that late grunge 90s sound. Black Hole Sun is a single that is set up perfectly by the other songs before it. Spoonman I think is not a great song but I don't hate it. The Day I Tried To Live is a killer song. The back end is a little long for my taste, but this is a killer record.

The Yardbirds doing the blues. It is cool that its all originals, I can respect a band trying to add to a musical cannon and not just ripping it off.
Rated 2/10
this pretty lame. the flow is so stilted, and cant speak in tune. This guy is just pathetic. HE LOSES A THOUSAND QUID DOWN THE BACK OF A TV?!?!?! Fuck this record.
Rated 2/10
I think I finally understand how to listen to post punk. its going to be grating and atonal, don't expect it to come out and entrance you. You have to let it go on its own way and sometimes its nice and other times its not. I still think thats a pretty pretentious way to approach music but whatever. The Suit is where I sort of hit a wall. God the lyrics and the singing are just so bad. Fuck this sucks.
Rated 6/10
Peach Trees is a cool song. The Art Teacher is immediately grabbing. but the rest is missable.
Very world blues vibes.
Rated 8/10
I really like this. Its a chill dub record with a lot of soul.
