mostly enjoyed this one. i quite enjoy the satirical songs but the more seemingly earnest songs didnt land as well

this was trending between 4 or 5 to me until coconut which dropped me to the 2 or 3 range. turns out that was just the teaser for jump into the fire which was fantastic. brought it right back up to 4 territory. i cant in good conscious give it a 5 with coconut on there but otherwise this is pretty solid.

this album reminded me so much of a grand dont come for free by the streets. this one takes the edge slightly because the beats don't sound like they were made in the basement of the guys house and the delivery is slightly better(though not by much). i also appreciate the socially conscious lyrics

every now and then in a sea of mediocre british post punk you come across a hidden gem like this one. this was a refreshing listen that reminded me why i do this project. these guys absolutely rip

like a knockoff beatles with a little bit of queen and just the right amount of zappa weirdness. there are some genuinely good songs on here even if some of them are just one minute ideas that don't really develop.

21 years ago i heard somebody told me and loved it. i bought the album and hated it. all the singles ive heard since then have been fine but not great. re-listening, its much better than i remember it being and has a decent bit of variety. its also very heavily frontloaded with a very mediocre string of songs to end the album

ive never understood the appeal of these guys. ive always thought their big singles were pretty average yet those were the better tracks from the album. also considering this came out in 2008, no one thought to tell these guys that grown men singing about teenagers wasn't acceptable anymore?

i was pretty bummed when this popped up. it certainly wasnt a happy monday(mostly cause it was a thursday). pretty boring overall, but it was fine.

great grooves but the lyrics did not age well. theres also no reason each song needs to be 6 minutes or more. if you chopped this down to runtimes that dont let the beat get stale its probably a 3.

theyve got decent vocals, good instrumentals and some political charged, socially conscious lyrics but something about it just feels lackluster. for example their cover of strange fruit wasnt bad, but im not sure the haunting lyrics work in the context of their sound. i appreciate the intentions but think the execution was bit flawed. i think i could've given it a 4 had it been a bit shorter

what a weird album. kinda reminded me of talking heads at some points. im not sure how much id listen to it again but there was so much variation it kept me engaged the entire time which is more than i can say for the majority of albums on here.

this was incredibly average. she has a good voice there was some good instrumentation on some of the songs but otherwise it was pretty bland.

this album was pretty disappointing for me. i went in only knowing cult of personality and had high hopes for the rest of it. by no means is the album bad, but it doesn't come close to living up to the banger opening track. overall its well played funk rock that i think leans too much into pop to be truly great.
