I'll be honest, I haven't listened to a lot of the early R.E.M. as much as I probably should. And man, should I listen to it more, this is a great album start to finish.

My other reviews of Nick Drake are that I need to listen to more Nick Drake. And this record, more than the others, is just proof of that. It's excellent, and I need to listen to it more. This one was my favorite.
It's a short album, but I'm not sure it would be better if it was longer.

Perfectly fine. Nothing super exciting, never wanted to turn it off.
Rated 8/10
Quite a bit here I liked a lot, the guitar work is minimal but equally interesting. However, it does tend to get a bit too far into the jam band territory for me. I think I'm going to rate it higher than I expected because some of the work is just so good. It's probably a high 3, but I'll round up.

I like this a lot, but it's not as good as Odelay.
There wasn't much here for me. I forgot I was listening to it at one point.

I really hated the first song. I kept thinking my headphones were going out on me. After that the album never really rose above fine.

This is a tough one to rate. I like Willie Nelson's voice a lot, but he's a songwriter and he wrote none of these songs. That's a shame. Even though I'm not going to rate it high, I actually could see putting it on again in the exact right mindset.

I just really like R.E.M. and find most of their albums to be pretty great. This one is no exception.
Pretty good 70s British punk. I knew a few of the songs from before but liked listening to the whole album.
Rated 8/10
I actually really enjoyed this one. Sure it's mostly noise, but it's actually really good to program to. Sort of like an electronica/dance album with no electronic and all real music.
I would've never thought before listening to this, but I'll listen to this one again.
Rated 8/10
Hard one to rate. It's not bad at all, and parts of it are pretty good. Should really be a 3.5, but that's not an option. I've been hard on albums lately, I'll bump it up.

I thought this was fine. I liked the first song (no surprise, it was on the Hackers soundtrack.) Overall it's a fine example of this genre, I just don't love it.
Rated 8/10
This was good, I liked it a lot. If I had listened to it more around the time it came out, I might've even rated it higher.
It’s not good. But it just faded into the background for me to the point I sort of forgot it was on at all.
This one is hurt by the recording itself. The band is great, the solo is amazing. I’m not normally a jazz guy, but I can get behind this one, but I think that’s because I do enjoy Big Band type jazz.
But the recording is so subpar. The crowd noise is too high (but man is the crowd enjoying themselves!) and overall the mix is just bad. Would’ve loved to hear this with modern recording tech.

Another hour+ rap album full of skits that aren't funny or interesting along with songs that are just mind numbingly boring.
Rated 6/10
I thought this was fine. I liked some of it, some of it was too arty for me. May listen again in the future, but not soon.

Review Note: I listened to this on a beautiful, sunny, 75 degree day with the windows down in my car. It's probably still a 5, but the conditions couldn't have been better.
I'm generally a fan of reggae, and this is one is great. No skips at all on this album, and listened to it twice back to back.

I think I might be a Neil Young fan?? This was really excellent. And an interesting recording concept, where it's mostly live but done in a way to limit the "live-ness" of it. Really enjoyable, I'll put this one on again for sure.
