MottMott the Hoople

Rated 8/10

Really good listen, and I'll be adding it to my 70s rotation. I know Mott a little bit, but didn't realize until this challenge how much I liked them.

I've mentioned before that I'm not the biggest Springsteen fan. But I'm finding that, at least the albums chosen for this list, are pretty darn good. This isn't as good to me as Nebraska, but it's not bad at all and I'd listen to it again.

I haven't liked any of the Kate Bush albums, and I think this one might be my least favorite. It's to weird, her voice annoys me to no end, and I just don't like any of the music or production.

This is the epitome of "not for me"

I liked this quite a bit. I listened to this twice, the first time I sort of liked it, but listened again and liked it more the second time. Jam-band adjacent, but no 15 minute songs that you forget what you're listening to.

There's something here that I like, but it's a little bit too out there for me. But I think I might listen to parts of it again.

It's WAY too out there for the family, that's for sure. It was interesting listening to this driving home from a softball tournament.

Rid of MePJ Harvey

Rated 8/10

When I think of PJ Harvey, this is what I think of. A few things keep it from being a perfect album, but the production is great, and I like it a lot.

I like Leonard Cohen, but always find an entire album to be a bit challenging. His voice is .... unique. The music is sparse and not very interesting, but the lyrics are killer.

Like all Waits, it's not something I'll usually choose to listen to, but usally am glad I did. It's not all good, and can get annoying, but I still like it some.

Long and sort of same-y the whole way through. I got it in the first 10 songs, didn't need the rest. Not really for me, probably won't play again.

AutobahnKraftwerk

Rated 8/10

Autobahn (song) is so good that I always forget how long it is. First time I heard it was in Germany when a tour guide played the whole thing for us while we were driving on the Autobahn. I liked it more than everyone else on the bus.

The rest of the album isn't as good as the first song.

There's about half of a very good album here. But some of it just doesn't click with me at all. It's fine, I doubt I'll listen to the whole thing again, but could see listening to a few songs, especially Dolly's leads, again.

Hmm, this one is tough. I didn't like a lot of it, but some of it I liked quite a bit. I'll settle on middle of the road, but I won't be mad at anyone who thinks it should be higher or lower.

I think there was one song, maybe 2/3rds of the way through, that was sort of listenable. And that's being kind. The rest is complete garbage. Nothing about this is interesting, compelling, or good.

I was listening in the car with one of my kids (I like to torture them at times) and she, at one point, didn't realize that we were on the 7th song of the album because it "all sounded exactly the same."

Never heard this one before. And I sort of liked it? Like kinda liked a lot of it. Grabbed me from the first song, Chocolate Cake

Cool, an entire album that sounds like the orchestra warming up before they actually play songs. You know songs, those things with some structure, melodies, and other things that make you actually WANT to listen to it.

I just don't get jazz, especially this type, at all.

TuskFleetwood Mac

Rated 6/10

Fleetwood Mac has several albums that I enjoy a lot, 4 and 5 star albums. Tusk isn't one of them. It seems like it's a double album of unfinished songs, and it's just off putting. There's obviously good things here, but it's not an album I'll listen to in full anytime soon.

I didn't really like this. But at no point did I hate it or feel the need to turn it off or skip a song. It's way to long, it's not in a language I understand (so who knows what the message is here) and apparently the guy is not a nice guy.

Probably music a movie would use as a background. And I'm not sure why it's on the list. But there are worse albums on here.
