No. Sorry. The 80s is sometimes much maligned, but this bland twee synth nonsense is fully deserving of the hate. 100% the soundtrack to lots of posh Chelsea Girls with big hair and excessive makeup swaying whilst drinnking their cocktails and arsehole traders in suits talking about how much money they earned that day.

Ooooooh. Tricky. Very tricky. No arguments from me at all that it has a place on the list - it absolutely ticks all of those boxes. For my individual rating though, it's all a bit too incoherant for me. Some absolute genius level tracks - title track, Lucy - and some totally baffling dross - 64 etc.

Compared to another of the "drugs really help you create a Top 10 for enternity album " for example - Rumours - there is not a weak track on that thing. Lots of umming-and-ahhhhing I think it has to be a 4 star. Cultural impact - 5, some tracks - 5, the other tracks - 2/3 at best.

Rated 6/10

10cc are a lot of fun. Perhaps missing the absolute peak hits here - 'Be quiet, big boys don't cry' - but still a pleasure to listen to.

In *my* 1001 best albums. Yeah - could well be, the album positively ooooooooozes "baggy" and there's not many more tracks guaranteed to get me to STRUT down the road than "One to Another". The best 1001 ever? Feels unlikely.

Another classic (to my ear anyway, maybe for the local population it's like "Coldplay") from the Africa-infused blues genre.

Thanks list!

Just a touch too young for TJAMC, but if I needed a soundtrack for my biopic (teenage years : stood moodily in a kitchen, drinking whisky, angry at the world for no real reason), this would be it.

One of my more popular reviews (thanks for the love guys & gals) was.......

"Anyone else think this list is a little heavy on the "white dudes do R&B / rock". Sadly, other bands (a) did it better and (b) didn't have Rod's voice ruining everything."

So yeah. That.
