SuicideSuicide

Rated 5/10

Not bad enough to commit one, not good enough to talk out of one.

I've heard some Kanye before but I was surprised how much I liked this album. Perhaps my rating is influenced by not really expecting that much out of it? Usually I hate these kinds of rap albums with skits and stuff in them, but I didn't even mind them here. I was with it the whole way through.

I've listened to this album before when I decided to start listening to a bunch of Miles Davis. Unfortunately I went from his modal period to this, which made me not really care for this record. But now that I'm relistening it from scratch, not within the context of Miles Davis' best albums, but in terms of all albums, I really, really appreciate it. It's such a good album that I feel guilty for not appreciating it sooner.

I generally like electronic music, but I can't go any higher than this for this album.

I sorta remembered 77 being further below Talking Heads' best albums, but no, this was better than I remembered. Even though Eno wasn't producing them yet, there's definitely a lot of that same Talking Heads that you hear in the latter albums. I could not sit still while listening to this.

More on the "idle" than the "wild" side. I don't think I could answer a single question about this album if you quizzed me about it.

It's quite frankly not really what I'd normally listen, but I still really enjoyed it as chill-out music. Really relaxing.
