When this came up, I said out loud: “You have got to be kidding me.”

I expected to hate this. But, I actually enjoyed it a lot. Christina’s got pipes!

When I thought about if I would relisten to this, or even imagined putting on a vinyl of it, I knew that wasn’t something. So that’s a 3.

Before this project, I had written The Rolling Stones off as a greatest hits band. This project has taught me that’s not the case, and they’ve got some legit great albums. THIS album reminded me why I thought they were a greatest hits band.

I’ve historically been a pretty big white stripes fan, so I knew this would be at least a 4. Then, Ball and Biscuit hit and I don’t know why I was pretending this was less than a 5.

I was pretty not excited to listen to this and was caught by surprise at how much I enjoyed it. I couldn’t give it a 5, because I kept comparing it to the Beatles and wondering how much better it’d have been if the Beatles wrote and recorded this. Probably about a star better.

I like Neil Young a 4. I liked this a 4.

But, I said it on the last album of his. Waaaaaaaaay too many of his albums on here, and this shouldn’t have made the cut.

It had some above three star moments, and these guys are clearly just making the music they want to. But overall? Meeeeeh…

I’ve often wondered if this band “got” Parchman Farm when they covered it.

Mose: “I’m going to write a song in which the narrator talks about how unfair it is they are in prison and saying they didn’t do anything. Maybe you have some sympathy for them. Then, at the end, you realize they are there for killing their wife and are actually a monster who doesn’t value the life of women.”

These guys: (immediately) I’m in Parchman Farm for killing my wife.

Several more minutes of song.

I am a Steely Dan guy. I don’t care. People love them or hate them, and I fall into love.

This is very good, but not their best. Some of the filler is a bit filler-y. It’s no 5, but a 4 is fair.
