My second album from The Chemical Brothers and it was pretty good but I definitely preferred Dig Your Own Hole out of the two.

I didn’t get bored of it at any point which is more than I can say for a lot of Electronic albums on here, it just didn’t have anything that massively stood out to push it beyond three stars.

Some great songs on here, Up Around The Bend is an almighty BANGER of a track. Their version of Heard It Through The Grapevine might be my favourite interpretation of the song.

I really want to give this five stars but I’m not massively keen on Before You Accuse Me and Ooby Dooby. I’ll be giving this another listen so I might feel differently later on but, as it stands, I could look past one track but I can’t give top marks with two I’m not fussed on.

Top Track - Up Around The Bend

First time I’ve had the same artist back to back and I massively preferred this to Celebrity Skin yesterday.

The opener Violet is a banger of a song and, while I don’t think anything else on here matched it, the whole album is strong throughout.

Top Track - Violet

Celebrity SkinHole

Rated 6/10

This one was a pleasant surprise, I’ve never liked the title track so I didn’t expect much going into this. Honestly I still don’t care for it. The three singles from the album were probably the weakest tracks for me but take them away and there are some belters on here.

Top Track - Northern Star

First time ever listening to a Willie Nelson album and I didn’t like it one bit.

Going in the only track of his I’d ever heard was On The Road again which I do kinda like. This was nothing like that, the whole album was so slow and dull for me. I was bored of it before the halfway point.

I think I would like something of his that’s a bit more uptempo needless to say this wasn’t for me.

So I woke up really early and figured I’ll stick my headphones in and chill until the alarm goes off. This is absolutely not a lie in bed and chill album lol.

It is bloody good though. It took me a couple of tracks to get into it but about halfway through Dracula Mountain it clicked. It’s definitely one I’ll be going back to.

Top Track - 2 Towers

(GI)Germs

Rated 8/10

A slightly disappointing four star. I was bloody loving this from the start straight through to Manimal but it fell away after that. I was still good but not the dead cert five star I was expecting.

Top Track - Manimal

Soul MiningThe The

Rated 8/10

Great album. Opening couple of tracks were absolutely brilliant. The rest of it was really good but never reached those same heights for me. I’ll definitely be going back to this though.

Top Track - This Is The Day

First few tracks were a bit hit or miss. Then I got to Sister which was a belter of a song and I really enjoyed everything after that.

Top Track - Sister

This could’ve been a four star for me but it really dragged towards the end. I don’t think it needed to have 15 songs on it. A pity because it started off brilliantly with Pony St. and there are a few other great tracks on here.

Top Track - This Is Hell

A really fun listen with a couple of great tracks on it. Enjoyed every track on it but it needed a couple more standouts to be anywhere near a 5.

Top Track - Malegría

I bought this way back in probably 2001 or 2 and was so disappointed with it. I really liked Freak On A Leash back then but hated the rest of the album.

All these years later my opinion hasn’t changed really apart from I like FOAL a lot less now than I did then. Still like it enough for this to get two stars but I can near guarantee I will never listen to this album in full again.

So I had an initial twinge of disappointment that Soul Limbo wasn’t on here. The iconic theme song for Cricket coverage on the BBC would’ve guaranteed a 5 from me on its own lol.

As for what was on here, great album for the most part. The title track is brilliant, I do slightly prefer The Blues Brothers take on it though. The only one I didn’t like was Rinky Dink.

Top Track - Green Onions

DrunkThundercat

Rated 8/10

Really interesting album. Bloody weird at times and not every track hits the mark but it’s never boring. I definitely want to check out more from him.

Top Track - Tokyo

It’s a fun listen with a few cracking tracks but as an overall album it’s not one that’s gonna knock your socks off.

Top Track - California Sun

Metallica - ...And Justice For All

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a hard one to score. One and Blackened are two of my favourite Metallica songs, One is in the discussion for my overall favourite. There is the temptation to give it the full five stars but the album does have its flaws.

The obvious and most famous one is pretty total erasure of Jason Newsted’s bass throughout it. To be honest it’s something that took me ages to realise but once I did it really is a big negative against the album.

Another slight flaw is a couple of the tracks go on a tad too long for my liking. There isn’t one on the album under five minutes with most of them going towards the 7 minute plus mark.

It’s a great album overall but not among Metallicas best

Make It Mine is an absolute belter of a track but apart from that this wasn’t for me whatsoever
