They hadn't yet devolved into being an absolutely irritating listen quite yet with this album, but they were well on their way. A few decent tunes here but mostly a sea of mediocrity.

The music sounds somewhat interesting. The singing sounds extremely half-assed, while the other half of the ass is the lyrics.

Now this is some good jazz! But even good jazz can only do so much for me. My rating is in no way a knock on the skill at play here or the impact of the recording, but instead a reflection of my own ears and their ability (or lack thereof) to enjoy this type of music.

Zappa sure knew how to keep things interesting, and with such high quality musicianship to boot.

It's rough around the edges, and the songs are certainly samey, but it's a fun & catchy listen. A few gems on here too.

What a pleasant surprise! This one is bop after bop. New Order never clicked with me until now, but this might be the album that brings me around to them.

Rooster is one of the greatest songs ever written. The rest of the album is pretty damn good too.

I had this one on tape back when it came out! After Much Music played the hits ad nauseum I got tired of hearing them and never really returned to the album, but you know what? It may sound dated, but this is some good shit right here.
