Bill Callahan has a very trance-like take on folk music, and when you're in the right headspace for that kind of thing, it's very nice.

I had listened to this album before, giving it a few tries around the time it was released, and it never managed to stick. Who knows if it will now have more staying power, but I was of the right mind to enjoy this album this time around, and enjoy it I did.

Well they sure are fantastic at taking interesting musical ideas and really dragging them out until they become a seemingly never-ending slog to get to the end of for any given song and then the album itself just seems to drag on and on and on until it finally ends and if you haven't fallen asleep from total boredom you just find yourself relieved that it's over.

A pleasantly unspectacular listen. The album holds a fine atmosphere, but lacked any songs that overly made an impression on me.

A cool album with some really interesting guitar parts and songs with enjoyable melodies. As a 90's kid this kinda thing will always be up my alley.

The only Underworld song that I was aware of going into this was Born Slippy, which I have enjoyed for a long time despite not really being in my typical musical wheelhouse. While that song isn't on this album, these tunes seem to be from the same Underworld era. They don't hit the same way Born Slippy hits, though. It's not a bad listen, and certainly did the job decently enough as background music while I worked, but I don't see myself returning this album.

A few classic hip-hop tracks to start the album, but the rest doesn't do much for me. The misogyny might have been cool at the time but it's pretty cringeworthy these days.

Don't mind me, just having my Stephen Stills awakening. Side A was incredible, but it slacked off some on Side B. A solid listen all around though.

It's been so long since I last listened to this album that, aside from the hits, it was almost like listening to it for the first time.

It won't take that long for my next listen, I tell you h'what.

What a trio of voices! This is a pleasant listen, although only a few tracks really jumped out at me. Couldn't possibly be in a bad mood listening to this, though. A fine way to recognize yesterday's passing of a giant. RIP Dolly.

Skunk Anansie are one of those bands that I've been aware of for a long time, but have never actually listened to until now. This album certainly has a presence, much of it a result of Skin's compelling vocal performance. The songs are fine, but nothing special. Slightly electronic, slightly metal, and sounding entirely of its era. Not sure I'll ever revisit it, but now I know.

Provocative &, thought-provoking jangly tunes that did not initially connect with me, but then as the album went on and its sound started to click in my mind, it also started to reveal its quality. This album leaves me wanting to listen to it again immediately.

Hit me with that sweet, sweet 60's British psychedilia baby one more time! Now this is what I'm talkin bout! Not sure how this escaped my ears until now, but this is right up my alley. It's a bit unusual, a bit rockin, and a whole lot interesting to listen to. Me for dat!

Left me feeling unthrilled and unbothered. The Asphalt World was cool, but nothing else grabbed me.

Not the most inspired listen that I've ever encountered, but a few decent songs smattered throughout. Probably won't ever listen to the whole thing front-to-back again.
