’m no closer to understanding how Jazz works but this is easily the best Jazz album I’ve heard so far.

HejiraJoni Mitchell

Rated 10/10

3/4 Joni albums for me, I’ll be sad once I’m done with her part of this list. Of course the instrumentation was incredible, but it’s not my favorite of hers. I looked back and saw that I wrongfully gave Blue 4 stars so I’m correcting that here.

This is the kind of shit that makes me wish I knew more music theory. Like, I know it’s genius but aside from sheer technical proficiency I couldn’t tell you why.

I’ve listened to what feels like 30 different Britpop albums for this list and I finally get my first Oasis album. It was better than most of the others, but I know they’ve got better albums to come.

My first Stone Roses album. I really enjoyed track 1 but was bored by the rest until Shoot You Down. From there it got better until the end.

I feel like I heard Get Free all the time on shitty VH1 and MTV shows in 2002 but I’ve felt the desire to dig deeper. It was way more britpop than I expected so overall I thought it was pretty meh.

I would never choose to listen to Jazz recreationally but I always enjoy it when I listen to it for list. I don’t think I don’t understand Jazz and probably never will but I really appreciate its existence.

This was my first time listening to John Prine and I’ll definitely do it again soon. This is a really great debut album.
