A very pleasant surprise. Turns out Lovefool is almost the perfect pop song. The band plays some actual music on here. The cover of Iron Man is excellent and Nina's vocals are fucking brilliant all the way through. I toyed with giving this a big fat 5, but I'm gonna be sensible.

Disappointing. I've always wondered what this one sounded like but never ventured in. I don't the sounds contained within. I can't get with the lo-fi production. Some of the guitar playing is interesting and I can hear the influence it had an loads of indie bands, but I think it lacks tunes.

I didn't get much time to listen to this today, but what I did hear pricked my ears up. I haven't always enjoyed the music of Aphex Twin. In my university halls he was revered by the hardcore drug-takers as some sort of electronic prophet. Under these terms, I think he's slightly overrated. Good, very good maybe. But overrated.

I do like me some Bjork. She's never boring. Venus As A Boy is an all-timer. Loads of great ideas very well executed on here. Love her voice and general attitude.

Didn't do much for me. My foot tapped occasionally but it's all too much, no light and shade.

Some head nodding here. Some head shaking at some of the lyrics. Poor women. They've had it so bad in hip hop. It's hard to just shake it off and carry on nodding my head.

Very much not my thing - the vocals are too showy for my taste. However, I was surprised that, in places, this is basically a neo-soul album. All nice and groovy. This was a pleasant surprise. The song about her abusive father is quite affecting. There are some moments that are too cheesy for me, but this wasn't the chore that I dreaded.

I've grown to love this album. In my twenties it seemed impossible that I would ever listen to something so weird and uncompromising. In my 30s I started to appreciate it's strange, other worldliness. In my 40s, I love how it mixes a calm undertow with a furious front of chaos. This is some freaky, voodoo shit and I can't get enough.
Great cover art

I was and, very much still am, an Oasis guy. I still don't think Blur ever made a 'great' album. Loads of brilliant albums. Almost all their singles are classics as well.
This album is obviously very good. Girls and Boys, End of a Century and many others are brilliant songs, superbly performed. Some of the album is a bit 'Cor Blimey' and they definitely are playing at being working class. But I can't deny the strength of most of these songs.

I really enjoyed this. Bjork can be a tricky customer, but I appreciated the effort and creativity on display here. The use of voices is genius.

Eclectic. All over the place. Most of it works but definitely not all. Brimful of Asha is the obvious highpoint. I would have no issue listening again, but I don't think it's very cohesive as an album.
