I won’t argue that the songs here don’t have their own beauty and charm, but this really isn’t my thing at all - seriously, it’s just not for me. I suffer and get bored listening to this stuff. On top of that, Jorge Palma has passed away, and he - now that’s someone who had beautiful songs, adorned with exquisite poetry.

It was a bad album for me, and it came at a bad time, too. Too bad - maybe next time :-(

Rest in peace, Jorge; your loss has left us all feeling fragile :'(

An excellent voice, one of the most beautiful and vibrant I’ve ever heard; the way I viewed Sinead changed completely when I saw her tear up the photo of the Pope; seeing her protest and denounce a heinous crime that was taking place behind the Church’s closed doors made my respect for her grow exponentially! From then on, it was never just about the music. I felt pity, anger and frustration at all the suffering they caused her afterwards. I know exactly what I’m talking about, as Pope John Paul II was held in the highest regard, seen by those around me as a true saint – but the truth is that those very same people I dealt with knew what was going on in the Portuguese Church (yes, you read that right: these crimes took place in the Church, with a capital ‘C’, all over the world; no one was spared).

So may this beautiful artist live on forever in our memories, and may we never forget her voice, her energy and her courage.

For all that, a resounding 10/10

PS – the album is also spectacular and her music is marvellous

Wow, I’ve got this on vinyl; I bought it shortly after it was released in Portugal. Seriously, throughout the 1980s, I was a huge fan of The Cure, and this album, along with a few Pink Floyd albums and one by Art of Noise (‘In No Sense... Nonsense’), made up my initial vinyl collection, even though at the time I didn’t have a hi-fi system or even a record player. That’s how much I loved them: I’d ask a mate of mine, who had a Pioneer system, to record them onto cassette for me (yes, it’s true, I’m that old lol).
An excellent album, probably one of the best in their discography: every track on this album is magnificent and a pleasure to listen to, from start to finish – ‘Plainsong’, ‘Pictures of You’ (which I love, love, love!), “Lovesong”, “Lullaby”, “Fascination Street”, “Prayers for Rain”, “Disintegration”… blimey, even “Untitled”, is excellent, and it doesn’t even have a proper title :-D

Rating: 10/10 (and with that, I realise this must have been the longest review I’ve written here – that’s what happens when you’re writing about something you love, something memorable and something you know so well)

A lovely surprise. I’d never heard of this album or this artist before, but I really enjoyed it. And that’s enough for me to give it a good rating ;-)

I remember when this was released; I remember how long her songs stayed at the top of the charts here in my country; I remember how much I loved and respected (I still do!) this magnificent lady!

The world is a poorer place whenever artists like her pass away - let’s be grateful for the legacy they leave us!

I remember being in college and how this album was received and acclaimed by critics. I was already familiar with Björk from the Sugarcubes, and hearing her on this solo album was a real treat. Unfortunately, I don’t tend to revisit it very often, and looking back now, the album doesn’t seem as good or interesting to me as others she’s made since :-(

I found it truly original - a pleasant surprise - which left me keen to find out more about these guys.

I eventually realised that I was actually already familiar with the track ‘This Town [...]’, but the whole album turned out to be absolutely fascinating.

5/5, without a doubt

There's "Around the World" and everything else around "Around the World"

This Elvis Costello album was a bit of a let-down here; I have a lot of respect for him, but his other album (Armed Forces) on this list, which I’ve already listened to, was enough – and far better than this one, mind you!

Anyway, a 2 for his contribution to pop music. Next ;-)

No way! Absolutely no way.

This is the kind of pretentious art that people tell you you’re supposed to appreciate, but deep down, everyone knows this is total s-h-i-t

One of the worst—if not the worst—of the bad albums I’ve ever heard here. Sorry, Captain Beefheart, even you’re more original than this. I shouldn’t have given “Trout Mask Replica” a 1; now I can’t give this crap the 0 it deserves.

Yeah, this definitely had its moment! Repetitive and, ultimately, boring... but I can understand the enthusiasm of its fans, so I'll give it a 2 out of 5.

We had to wait for Franz Ferdinand to hear something so revolutionary (because of its originality and impact) and, in a way, so memorable at the time

Whether you like it or not, the Gallagher brothers’ arrogance aside, this shit was truly phenomenal

It's not bad. Nothing special, in my opinion—a little “meh” at times. Anyway, it was a good listen, so I'll give it a 3/5! I'm sure I've found things much worse than this on the list

Although I didn’t understand a thing about what these songs were about (I had to look them up and try to figure out the context) - since I come from a completely different culture and background - this kind of beat and sound was and is what appeals most to me in hip-hop and rap! It’s not really my thing, but I totally get why these guys from Wu-Tang were and are a landmark in the history of contemporary music.

These guys were, truly, in a league of their own.

This is not garbage, quite the opposite! Who said such stupid thing?

5 ** 5 ** 5 ** 5 ad eternum 5

This is a milestone in music: nothing compared to it before; nothing will compare to it afterward!

It is, without a doubt, an album that deserves to be on this list; it’s exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for and that I’m happy to hear here.
