I want to go on a quest now. The instrumentals here are all really great and the adaptation of traditional songs to the style really works. The vocals dance on top of the songs. Really enjoyable. Favorites were Marty Groves and Tam Lin.

The sound that plays beginning at 0:30 in The Phuncky Feel One is the sound of a Pikmin dying. Cypress Hill is admittedly been a blind spot in my knowledge of classic hip hop. This album holds up. Very clearly B-Real’s voice inspired the likes of Danny Brown. Lyrical content tends to be somewhat shallow here to the point where it tends to get repetitive towards the end here. Still fun. Favorites were How I Could Just Kill A Man, The Phuncky Feel One, and The Funky Cypress Hill Shit.

This probably blew minds in the 60’s. And I’ll admit I like how it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Mostly covers, but they add so much energy to the songs they feel new. Favorites were The Witch, Do You Love Me, Roll Over Beethoven, Have Love Will Travel, Psycho, and Strychnine.
Rated 8/10
Abrasive proto-punk that’s truly kicks ass. The live recording really helps with this. Definitely influential for the development of punk rock. Favorites were Ramblin’ Rose, Kick Out The Jams, Borderline, and I Want You Right Now.

Just relentless from beginning to end. Absolute ripper. Doesn’t outstay its welcome too with its concise thirty minute runtime. Excellent guitar work and riffs. Favorites were Angel Of Death, Altar Of Sacrifice, Postmortem, and Raining Blood.
Rated 6/10
This one was good but not great. Solid production and usage of samples. Need You Tonite is very reminiscent of Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake. Favorites were Drop The Pressure, Otto’s Journey, and Musclecar.
Rated 8/10
I like this band more and more with each album I listen to. The second half here is fantastic. Love the vocal inflections and the guitar work is solid. Favorites were Silver, Thorn Of Crowns, The Killing Moon, and Seven Seas.

A stylistic evolution of Rush’s earlier material, adding more synths. The excellent musicianship is on display as always. This is the album to prove that air drumming can become a workout. Maybe the best Rush album? Too close to call between this, Hemispheres, and Permanent Waves.

The Verve as a band have grown on me. I really liked this album. This also caused me to revisit Urban Hymns as I gave that a low score and wanted to see if it was better than I remember. But, no! I just like this one much more than that. It’s much nosier and the variations in guitar tone are appreciated. Still a little long though. Favorites were A New Decade, So It Goes, A Northern Soul, and History.
Rated 8/10
This album is almost all fire except for the song Milky Cereal. That song is corny as hell and sucks. His flows on here are great, the beats are fun, and the lyrics are clever and quotable. High quality hip-hop album. Favorites were Around The Way Girl, Eat Em Up L Chill, Farmers’ Blvd, and Mama Said Knock You Out.

Is that the smoke detector beep in Green Calx? This is another example where I’ve seen this album a bunch of places and told myself I would get to it eventually. And yeah, those nerds over at rateyourmusic were right. This is pretty great. These beeps and boops are entertaining. Favorite songs are Pulsewidth, Ageispolis, Ptolemy, and Actium.

Going from Aphex Twin to this is a drastic shift in quality. I just didn’t like this. I think my favorite song here was 666 Edit because of the sharp synth tones. Probably would not revisit this. Could have been worse. At least it was only a hour.
Perfectly enjoyable classic country music. Nothing too mind blowing here. Really good vocal performances. Favorites were the title track, Drink Up And Be Somebody, Skid Row, and Mixed Up Mess Of A Heart.
Rated 8/10
The beats are really great and Queen Latifah herself has plenty of charisma and good flows. The lyrical content can be somewhat lacking depth and that’s the biggest issue holding this back. Solid debut project. Favorites were Mama Gave Birth To The Soul Children, The Pros, Ladies First, and Inside Out.
Rated 10/10
Probably the best Stones album. The bookends here are the main selling points, but everything between them is quality material. Love the range of influences at play here. Had to write an essay in high school about You Can’t Always Get What You Want. Very important song for the understanding of AP Microeconomics.
Rated 8/10
The presence of the banana album is felt for sure. I mean it’s exactly what is says on the tin and it does a pretty great job at it. Is every song a winner? Nope. But it’s an absolute behemoth that is worth sorting through. You can say “cut this down and it would be better” but I think everyone would pick a different set of “best” songs. This is worthwhile.
Rated 6/10
I also like the song Moonage Daydream. Really good album. I dig the fuzzy guitars. Favorites were Jupiter And Teardrop, Fuzzy, The Hook, and Dixie Drug Store.
Rated 6/10
I have never heard a full Elvis album until now. This is recorded really well and sounds great. His voice is excellent as expected. Good mix of rock songs and slower numbers. Just a product of its time in terms of being an “album by committee”. Favorites were Fever Dirty, Dirty Feeling, and Such A Night.
Rated 8/10
I think I reached Microsoft Excel flow-state while listening to this album. Really great and it doesn’t waste my time. I wasn’t a big fan of the first song, but everything after that is pretty great. Favorites were Ancodia, Pacific 202, and 808080808.
Rated 6/10
I really like this style and some of the instrumentation here is really good. I just think this never does quite enough to push it over the edge. Band I had never heard of so I am glad I listened. Favorites were Riddle Of The Eighties, Mas Cajones, Liberty For Our Friend, and If’n.
