Well here we go... Yeah, this is why i really don't like 2000s hiphop. Look, I'm sure 50 was very influential with this sound. He probably wasn't the first one, but he definitely influenced this direction that hiphop went in during the 2000s. Sooo I really can't rate it high. It sounds cheap, the producition is subpar to the 90s 2010s and even the 80s for that matter. If it wasn't for the hits, I'd definitely rate it a 2.

I'm not as upset about the content of the lyrics as much as I am mad about how poorly written the lyrics are. There must be thousands of hip-hop albums out there better than this one. So why did this one in particular make the list? Puzzling.

At least I enjoyed it sonically.

If any genre of music deserves to be rejected on principle, it's gangsta rap. If you try to be a little more impartial, you end up with this: a petty criminal becomes famous because Eminem likes his mixtape and gets him Dr. Dre's beats. Admittedly, the beats on “Get Rich Or Die Tryin'” aren't actually that bad. But what about the rest? I remember well that the marketing for this album always revolved around the story of the nine bullets. Even back then, I found that a frighteningly simplistic argument for the quality of a music album.

The Good: Who doesn’t want to get rich?
The Bad: Just not certain about dying if we fail…
The Ugly: The album cover… just too… I don’t know… pin-uppy?

We all know that I am no fan of the hip and hop… though there are a couple of exceptions where I can actually stomach several songs, and if you push me, you could make me listen to a “greatest hits” version of these songs… probably because it will not reach an hour in play-time…

Then again, if I start lining up those songs that don’t rub me the wrong way, the list is longer than I would like to admit…

Which is where mr $0.50 comes into play… with his catchy hooks, and his mumbling cadence, and his overall attitude… fucker makes me bob my head to several of his tunes.

So what score do you give a genre that you don’t like, but where the artist is one who you actually appreciate for what he’s done with his life?
I would almost give this 4*, as fiddy deserves all the additional credit for exposing diddy for what he be… but I can’t in good conscious do this, so I will stick to 3*… but good job there Curtis!

Was okay. Some really big hits from 50 on here. The album is quite long.

On one hand this album goes hard on some tracks, but on the other it's pretty repetitive with it's themes and beats. The features were not well used (eg it was annoying to see Eminem twice). Overall it was fine. 2.5/5 -> 3/5

50 is not a great lyricist, he's not a very imaginative songwriter, and he isn't one of those rappers like Juvenile whose flow is such a melodic thing that you're not always sure if you're listening to hip-hop or a hybrid form. What he's got tho is one of the great voices in rap history, a direct inheritor of the nonchalant yet troubled aspects of a Biggie or a Scarface. He can also be scary as a motherfucker, i.e., when he spits a line like this, don't tell me you aren't warier: 'And if you got a glass jaw, you should watch your mouth / 'Cause I'll break your face / Have your ass runnin,' mumblin' to the jake.' A limited artist by definition, he never made a record nearly as memorable as this one. But man did things assemble in the right way on his '03 classic.

Real tuff shit. In Da Club's beat is the fattest and most memorable rap beat of the 2000s I'd wager. Hampered sadly by chauvinistic beliefs.

Wow, suddenly so much hip hop after first month of no hip hop at all. This is not bad but again I don't think this is such a masterpiece as some people tend to call it. I heard way better hip hop but I also heard worse so to me this is just about average. Even those big hits sounds a bit cringy today.

Rated 8/10

I have a soft spot for this era of commercial hip hop even though we always felt it was kind of a joke back in the day. The record has some epic hooks though, and not just in the hits (of which there are more than I had remembered!)

There's not really anything bad about this album. I like some hip hop, but a lot of this feels bland to me. He has a fine singing voice when he's not just talking. He has a good flow, but I think the backing tracks are the star of the show more than the actual vocals. U Not Like Me, P.I.M.P and In Da Club were my favorites. Solid album, wouldn't listen to the whole thing again, though. Also, Eminem improved it a bit lol.

The content in this is so fucking bad, it has to be highlighted. Look at me, I'm so fucking great. I'm the best. I deal drugs. I fuck hoes. I kill people. Woooo!

That aside, there's some well put together tracks on here with some decent production and rhymes, and some of the tracks are a bop.

2.5 rounded up.

I've never been a huge fan of 50 Cent's flow (I always think he makes it sound like hard work) but this album has some absolutely undeniable hooks.

If you love me say you love me, but don’t stare at me man

Great Album from a great time for US Rap.

Rated 2/10

I am mostly disgusted, I got used to it later but towards the end I just wanted to kill myself hearing this so damn.

Rated 8/10

Approachable gangta rap. Juvenile but effective.

Just another ex-1001 album!™

There are a couple of standout tracks, In Da Club and P.I.M.P., the rest was uninteresting to me, felt that I'd heard similar with other hip-hop/rap on the 1001 list.
