Woah momma. Nice and short, gold voice and nice musics. There are better versions of these songs by other people sometimes, but as a a collective it's kinda good

Rated 5/10

Elvis is important, sure, and you can’t talk anbout record music without him. Otherwise, I didn’t want to and you can’t make me do it again.

Rated 2/10

yet another example of an album i know is culturally important but just cannot find it in myself to care about

Rated 6/10

This album is essential in chronicling the history and growth of rock and roll. Elvis is a super important figure and his voice is so versatile on the different styles present here. Not a fan of his version of Tutti Frutti. Listening in 2026 this still holds up as a good album. Favorite songs were Blue Suede Shoes, Trying To Get To You, and Money Honey.

De AI-gegenereerde 'Elvis sings...' slop op youtube klinkt in veel gevallen beter.

Rated 8/10

Including a classic 50s Elvis album on this list is tough because the most radical, world-changing songs were all released as singles in the Sun days. You get some hints of that sound and style here, but there's also plenty to remind you that Elvis was a balladeer at heart, not just some perverse hip shaker. The Ray Charles and Little Richard songs are definite downgrades from the originals, but overall this is just a good rockabilly record.

He’s pretty good value

It’s easy to hear why Elvis Presley became such a massive figure. Even this early on, there’s a lot of charisma in the performances — he sounds energetic, confident, and completely comfortable blending rhythm & blues, country, and pop into something that felt new at the time. You can definitely hear why people point to this period as one of the starting points of rock music.

As an album, though, it’s more interesting historically than musically for me. A lot of the songs feel more like snapshots of Elvis’ early sound than a fully satisfying record on its own. There’s energy and charm throughout, but it can also feel uneven and a bit dated at times.

Still, Elvis himself carries a lot of it. Even when the material isn’t especially remarkable, his presence is hard to ignore. You can already hear the blueprint for the kind of rock star that would dominate popular music for decades afterward.

For me, this will always be the sound of Elvis.

One of those that's next to impossible to listen to outside of the 'influence', 'for its time' and 'pathbreaking' and 'changed everything' descriptors that turn it into a sacred artifact in ROCK HISTORY. It's a lively combination of jump blues, high energy RnB, and honky tonk - all the most danceable music the mid 50s had to offer distilled into one super charismatic package.

Rated 4/10

Primitivna varijanta Elvisa. Meni su drugi albumi bili daleko bolji.

Rated 4/10

Hard to see what all the fuss is about now really.

Its historically important and therefore interesting. But it's not particularly engaging to modern ears (at least not mine).

The Good: The King of Rock and Roll
The Bad: The state of royalty these days…
The Ugly: … I’ve got nothing…

Album cover shows up and I have 2 instant reactions: Finally get the king, and there goes the ranking for the ‘50s.
The first should be a no-brainer… but my second comment has to do with the annoying fact that the ‘50s seems to be my favorite decade of music as it holds the highest average score of all decades.

This changes today.

Blue Suede Shoes, what a great song to start a freshman album with. Arguably the best song.
It is catchy, it has a great flow, and it just makes us want more!

Then more kicks in… and I started scratching my head wondering what the hell I was listening to.
At times you are expecting there to be a punchline, as you think you are attending a comedy show… because this is not serious, is it?

I’d love to write something smart. I’d love to write something insightful. I’d’d loved to have loved this album…

2* is what I am giving the King…

Rated 4/10

Not sure about this elvis album, was expecting more from the "king". Blue suede shoes is obviously a banger but everything else was a bit forgettable. Okay I actually really like blue moon. 2/5

Rock music has moved so far beyond this, but it’s important to remember that most white people were just listening to crooners right before this. I think this one has to be appreciated within its historical influence. Did he unfairly make millions of dollars more than black artists who had been developing and performing this style of music for decades? Absolutely. But did he appreciate the music and by crossing it over, help build a bridge across the divide, opening the door for future opportunities? Also yes

Fav Songs: none, they all sound the same and they're all ass

Least Fav: all of them

Sounds very Presley for me. Not a big fan, but well, it's classic.

Rated 8/10

Rated 8/10

Ya Elvis was a weirdo and kinda corny and his life went to shit, but this first album really does help sell why he was as big as he was at the time

Rated 4/10

Always been an Elvis sceptic, and this album isn't doing much to change my mind. Rock & roll Elvis is OK, but country Elvis is somewhat second rate, for the most part. Blue Suede Shoes, I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Cry (over You) and Trying to Get To you are highlights. The version of Tutti Frutti is very weak sauce.
