durchschnittliches Pop-Album. Angels legendär und Let me Entertain you einfach ein Banger

Rated 4/10

"Let Me Entertain You" and "Angels" are, well, entertaining, but the rest is pretty filler-ish. It all feels a little soulless, too.

Rated 2/10

There's a hole where the soul should be.

Even at his absolute peak, and at that time he was an absolute MEGASTAR in the UK, I’ve never been overly fussed on Robbie Williams and nothing I heard today changed that.

It maybe doesn’t help that the best song on the album is Angels and I’ve heard that song enough times to last me a lifetime. Apart from that the singles are decent enough but nothing else on the album is anything special. As Noel Gallagher famously said "He’s just a fat dancer from Take That".

Top Track - Angels

Rated 4/10

Generic as hell, but it surprised me by being more in the generic rock realm than the generic pop realm. Better than expected, but still not great.

Rated 8/10

I honestly didn't expect to like this album this much. Plus, the cover art is just great

Rated 4/10

The fast songs were annoying but ok if you like music like this, I guess. But the slow songs were intolerable, like I couldn't get more than 30 seconds in before having to skip to the next track.

Rated 2/10

This does not deserve to be here. It’s the Most mid album I’ve heard so far after 874 albums. Couldn’t finish it

Rated 4/10

2.5 Nope.

"I've heard of this thing called rock. I'd like one."

Rated 6/10

There is a sort of muso orthodoxy that Guy Chambers carried Robbie Williams through this album but I think he is unfortunately often too pedestrian by half for the funny, soulful, honest thing Robbie Williams is reaching for. You can see why a lot of pop stars will employ dozens of songwriters instead of one.

Rated 6/10

Robbie is nostalgic to me and I just watched his movie so that might sway some of this. Most of this is generic 90s pop. Angels is the standout here. Old before I die was like Temu Oasis.
Highlight: angels, let me entertain you

Rated 6/10

Pretty ok soft rock. Really nothing to be excited about, but more songs were goodish. 2.5/5 - 3/5

Rated 8/10

I was excited to get this album actually!

I know all his hits, and a few non singles. Robbie was huge when I was growing up. This album is certainly dated, but I liked it. Its the sound of nostalgia

Angels is probably his biggest song. I always hear it sung at karaoke. But for me Let Me Entertain You is peak RW. That music video is ingrained in my brain

I've seen Robbie a few times and he is an incredible performer to be fair to him. I also like that he's speaking out a lot about the fame and the music industry, treatment of bands in particular. He's not a one hit wonder guys trust me lmao

4 ⭐️

Rated 4/10

Music for the 30-somethings in the bachelorette party while they drive between their cosmo-fueled lunch and the Chippies Strip Club on the outskirts of Birmingham.

Rated 2/10

The worst Oasis record by far.

Rated 6/10

I was marginally aware of Robbie Williams in the early aughts, so this album was mostly unknown to me... until I saw the movie "Better Man." The music is enjoyable, but not great. For a former boyband member to be making this change to a solo career, it's an interesting move to go to maximalist rock-pop.

Rated 4/10

Unbelievably Mediocre and he’s also a bellend irl. That Hidden Track is GOD AWFUL…

Rated 8/10

Usually I'm not a consumer of this genre/artists, it's a kind of music that, if I had to choose, I would pass. But I must say it is a very, very good album!

It was fun, it had many hits and, overall, I was entertained ;-)

Rated 6/10

Objectively, this is a bad album. Whoever he was w/ Take That - and I don't care enuf to find it out - Robbie W isn't much to write home about on Life Thru A Lens. He makes the whole Britpop thing more generic than it had already been, opting for a sound that's got little to no attitude, even on the Oasis ('Live Forever') reprisal 'Old Before I Die': 'I hope I'm old before I die / I hope I live to relive the days gone by.' It airs dreadful tracks like 'Angels,' 'One Of God's Better People,' and 'Killing Me.' The better ones would still never find their way on rotation, not out of a sense of guilt, but simply b/c extant is more outstanding music. For some reason tho, I find it difficult to hate this record. He seems to be smiling thru the whole thing. For that, ☺️.
